Of the team that started tonight only 4 players were in last season's EPL team - Barnes, Gudmundsson, Roberts, Brownhill, the other 7 were all Kompany singings. Of the 7 on the bench, only 2 were at Burnley last season, the other 5 were Kompany signings. Most of the core of last season's team left - Collins, Cornet, McNeil, Pope, Weghorst - sold for 76.5 million, plus key EPL players Mee, Tarkowski, Westwood, Lowton, Bardsley, Vydra, Lennon, Pieters all left on free transfers (average age 30). Kompany brought in 14 new young players for 38.2 million, plus 4 key loan players in Harwood-Bellis, Maatsen, Tella, Beyer (average age 23).
