This classic film from one of the greatest directors of the 20th century (John Huston), boasts an incredible cast. Well-shot and well-acted, with a solid story to boot,...The neighbors of a frontier family turn on them when it is suspected that their adopted daughter was stolen from the local Kiowa tribe. There is plenty of action and suspense with Indian fights, dramatic events, & more.

From IMDB: Before filming began, director John Huston and star Burt Lancaster took actress Lillian Gish out to the desert to teach her how to shoot, which she would have to do in the film. However, Huston was astounded to discover that Gish could shoot more accurately, and faster, than both he and Lancaster, who thought themselves expert marksmen. It turned out that early in her career Gish was taught how to shoot by notorious western outlaw and gunfighter Al J. Jennings, who had become an actor after his release from a long prison sentence for train robbery and was in the cast of one of her films. She found that she liked shooting and over the years had developed into an expert shot.

Jesus himself said that people/the overall society in our timeframe would be extremely selfish: "having no real love, no natural affection, children would be rampantly disobedient and disrespectful, excessively into oneself, intensely infatuated lovers of money and personal fame rather than lovers' of God". Again, he didn't lie. I'm seeing it firsthand at ground zero. We all are. Most aren't seeing it from Jesus' and God's perspective. You have a wonderful day.

I was glad to read that Audrey Hepburn was a fine moral woman. It’s a shame that she had so many health problems. She was so beautiful and the movie Roman Holiday which she starred in with that gorgeous Gregory Peck had the saddest ending of any movie that I’ve ever seen. That scene where Burt Lancaster lifts a piano on his back incredible! Even though it was a hollowed out empty shell it probably still weighed around 200 pounds. Burt was an incredible athlete, in another film, "The Flame And Arrow" 1950, he performed some amazing stunts. In one he ran up to a 25 foot wall, stepped on a bench, jumped up and did a muscle up, then heaved himself up and over the wall, this 65 years before muscle ups became a thing. The later in the movie he's sitting on a tree branch, 15 feet up, when he leans back using his legs he flips backwards, and flips in mid air landing on his feet. Then still later, another actor 30 feet up on a barns 2nd story jumps and lands on Burts shoulders then pushes off of Burt flipping in the air and lands on his feet, amazing! The actors were amazing athletes back then.
@biakabutooka
@biakabutooka 2 ай бұрын
I'd also mention that Burt waived the use of a stunt double in"Trapeze"(1957) and at the age of 60! Burt did his own stunts in the film "Scorpio"(1973). Michael Winner who directed "Lawman"(1971) told about how Burt was practicing throwing himself from his horse over and over again in preparation for a climactic shootout scene. I'm guessing there are probably scores of similar anecdotes throughout Burt's career.

I don't understand how you kidnap an Indian baby justify it, keep the baby as yours kill the babies real relatives and hate them because they want to visit their own baby 🙃sister This story is bizarre 🤥

Dont you read history? Native Americans took captives as well & raised them into their culture. Black & white.

You find out who your friends really are when it comes to prejudice and revenge . All morality is thrown to the wind.

Lol! I find nothing true in this your write-up. Tbh I enjoyed the movie but we shouldn't forget the obvious! She was stolen from her real family, (her clan who did everything to get her back.) If only a peaceful dialogue was issued between her clan and her brothers the lives wasted for just that one girl wouldn't be necessary, the other family acted reasonably by cutting them off

The Kiowas had wanted to negotiate in peace. It's possible that something could have been worked out. Maybe visits? A bond of peace might have been created between the two races in that area.@@lisaa9887

Prejudice is so stupid I am so glad that we are moving past this ignorance when the deacons in the Baptist Church got up and walked out,when the first black family came in Loveland , I was young maybe 13 I couldn’t believe my eyes the Church had taught me to love and forgive that God created all men and then they got up and walked out when a black family walked in I felt so bad for that family,I made that girl one of my best friends. Next time I went to school. She was very very sweet and wonderful friend. I don’t know whatever happened to her but that family is so much fun. I love the Green family ! God bless them for their courage!!!!! I was later in life shunned by the congregation myself! Years later at my father’s family reunion someone did a family tree from a genial genealogy search and had pictures of my great grandpa who is black and my great grandma looked Jewish they came over on the ship from grandma always said Russia I don’t know if you’re sure but I always joked and told my family we had black in our blood now I know for sure we do I just don’t look at I have green eyes, light brown hair and olive skin my brother and sisters alI got nice full lips. I got the thin Norwegian lips from mom. My big sister has a beautiful head of long black curly curly nappy hair. My dad has dark skin and pink palms my brother has blonde hair and blue eyes my little sister has blonde hair and brown eyes, no one ever knew that we were black but they always said we were Mexican when I moved in to Loveland from Greeley and a lot of the parents wouldn’t let the kids play with us because they thought we were half breeds prejudice is so sad Such a waste of energy!
