BUS-COMP:
warmaudio.com/...
The Warm Audio BUS-COMP is a true reproduction of radio-ready bus compression delivering the signature sound of final mixes for 20 years. An all-analog, 2 channel, stereo VCA bus compressor based on classic circuitry, the BUS-COMP is masterful at controlling dynamics on many sources. The most common use of course is that magic touch that the VCA compression of the BUS-COMP adds to stereo mixes. The BUS-COMP will also perform exceptionally well on drum mixes, drum overheads, acoustic guitars, keyboards, piano, orchestral instruments, voice-overs and an array of other sources. Musicians deserve to be heard the way they want to be heard, and the Warm Audio BUS-COMP is the ideal tool to finish any mix.
WA-273:
warmaudio.com/...
The WA-273 properly reproduces the most legendary British console sound of all time. Delivering that “Desert Island” boutique preamp sound, the WA-273 is a studio and live work-horse just like the original. Classic '73-style preamps are known for being versatile tools, and the WA73 is no different with the ability to work with all kinds of microphones from Condenser, to Dynamic, to Ribbon. The WA-273 equally shines on all types of microphones and sources including; vocals, acoustic/electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, orchestras, keyboards, and even as a tone shaping tool to run partial or complete mixes through. With 80dB of gain and a fully discrete Carnhill Transformer balanced signal path, there’s no recording, mixing, or engineering task that the WA73 can’t handle. The Warm Audio “WA73 Family” consists of single and dual channel '73-style preamps (with & w/out EQ), that each pay careful homage to British audio history.

Nicer and softer without all the compression! Automations in volym in your session will make it shine!

This is like the 10th video i saw about this compressor. And so far it's the only one where i can hear a huge difference between the unprocessed signal and the compressed signal. In all other videos from random youtubers i couldn't hear the slightest difference between the raw audio and with this compressor engaged. I wonder why that is. Are they not operating the compressor correctly?

From what I understand the transformers subtly shift certain frequencies out of phase, causing the decay time of the low frequencies to shift as much as 5ms. It's the sound of the old consoles we've heard so many times before in famous recordings.

The transformer button stays lit on mine 24/7. It's equally as important as the compression if you ask me 😂

It would be very helpful if you talked a bit about how you deal with hardware insert delay compensation. Which is a horrid problem in protools. How do you deal with it?

Hey there 👋 Alex here. That’s a great question. When I was using the PreSonus Quantum I had issues with hardware delay compensation, but ever since I changed my audio interface to the MTRX STUDIO there are no issues. So I think this has to do with the hardware interface being used.

Yes. I want to know more about this too. I’m getting unusable delay/ghosting going through focusrite Clarett and Cubase pro 12. Love a solution because this WA bus-comp is unusable at the moment. Feel like I’ve wasted lots of $$.
@Roman_andtheprey
@Roman_andtheprey 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathankaye you know logic will auto compensate insert delay. Also you can manually adjust after printing the hardware on. Look up the mixbus tv episode on hardware insert delay.

@@Roman_andtheprey I don’t use (or like) Logic. Cubase Pro has the same type of delay compensation, but it doesn’t seem to work with the WA bus comp (yet it works with the Drawmer 1978 stereo Fet compressor). I’ve seen David’s video on that, but the delay is earlier than the main audio so using that method doesn’t really work, which is bizarre & I just want to make the adjustments in the moment as the audio is playing. There has to be a setting somewhere with focusrite control (my interface) or Cubase that I haven’t found any info on as yet. That being said, There is too much of a boost in the high-mid & high frequencies with the Warm Audio Unit itself, so I may have bought a faulty one, which may be the cause of all these dramas. Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it.

so you functioning the wa-273 as a "summing mixer" right? is it can be direct to the wa-273 or need some passive summing mixer for trimming the input?
@legacyShredder1

It can go direct line-in without any problems.

Hey great video. This helped with my decision to purchase a couple months ago. Everything worked fantastic until a couple / few weeks ago and now it seems to remove the stereo image and almost make things mono. I’ve swapped out cables and tried different inputs on my interface with no success. Have you ever come across this or have any thoughts? TIA

Hey man! I would suggest contacting our QA team with some sound samples and as much info as possible about your signal chain and what you're recording to help them decipher what may going on. They should be able to help you troubleshoot the issue. Hope this helps! 👇 customerservice@warmaudio.com

Do you use the Warm Audio Bus Comp only for groups of sounds, as you consider it to be too "colorful" for the mix bus?
@WarmAudioOfficial
@WarmAudioOfficial 7 ай бұрын
Hey there! While the BUS-COMP thrives as a mastering compressor, there is no reason to not experiment and see what kind of sounds you can get on single tacks as well. Sometimes the flavor is just right for the setting in the mix!

In other words. Would a wa bus comp give me more options than a wa2a if I only used for guitar/vocal covers?
@WarmAudioOfficial
@WarmAudioOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
@@KyndesCovers - Hey hey! You can definitely get some great results on individual instruments using the BUS-COMP. Typically it is used on your mix BUS to give your entire mix a similar sound. The WA-2A is an optical compressor, so, I wouldn't say you'd get more options with the BUS-COMP, simply a different type of compression. All depends on your style and desired flavor of compression at the end of the day.

I bought a Warm Audio Bus-Comp about a month ago, but immediately noticed that it introduced a fair bit of high-mid & high frequencies to the mix creating excessive sibilance. Have you (or anyone else) found this happen with this unit? Or is it possible that this unit is faulty?
