Sparkling hub oil was not in the budget. Oil pressure gauge inop is not good for a new engine rebuild. Just a few last minute items to get this safely back on the road.

I have been watching you guys work for a long time, I appreciate your attention to detail when it comes to vehicle safety. it’s frightening to see how many of these heavy duty vehicles are rolling down the road with lack of proper maintenance.

Thank you for posting this great video. It really shows how many maintenance/repair shops are sending unsafe vehicles out on the public roads. Then the owners paying these shops have no idea the work is criminal shouldn't be able to leave the shop. It's a fact that your honestly helping educate everyone by leading by example. Sadly not many people can afford even one of the old busses. I'm old and like the old mechanical vehicles even though the new ones are driver friendly.

It's never fun seeing forbidden glitter flowing out with the oil. Could you imagine the carnage if there wasn't a magnet at all...that one was definitely doing its job well. Seeing you fix other shops screwups for whatever reason sure is reassuring when i see these beasts rolling down the road. It just sucks for the owners with the money laid out and so forth. Thanks for doing all you guys do 🙂

On a positive note, you guys did a fantastic job rebuilding that engine, it looks great and sounds great!!! For that matter the whole vehicle is really looking nice, hopefully its in the home stretch as far as repairs go and the owners will get a lot of enjoyment out of it!!! ❤❤❤

I owned the very last builr American New Look Bus manufactured by GMC at the Flint, MI factory. It was built in March 1977 Having served as a city passenger bus in Wausau ,WI for more than a quarter century it was still completely original and ran pretty decent but needed work over the ten years I owned it Yes it was a money pit and I finally sold it to a man in Lodi NJ who had a bus collection. And yes I took a substantial loss but I have to admit it was a blast to drive to car shows

Great videos as always BGM. It is because of your channel, long ago I installed two oil pressure gauges on my Cummins. One on the block side and one on the filter housing side. Oil and gauges are way cheaper than $2000 tows and $9000 engines.

you may want to hang some heavy mil plastic/poly behind the tool box/workbench area, then the wall wont get dirty anymore and the plastic can easily be changed. could also spend a boatload and put plexiglass there, so it's cleanable, but that would buy lots of disposable plastic sheeting. 🙃

So much time is wasted on removing the split collars on the axle flanges. When they`ve been on for a few years they don`t come off as easy as those ohes did. Then somebody in the shop volunteers to help with the sledge hammer and smashes the studs causing another nightmare.

Then buy an older bluebird chassis with a gasoline engine, those with only one rear axle, much less maintenance and money, though you will still need a bit of cash on hand since many of those are "real fixer uppers"!

In 1970, gold was $35 per oz and median income was $8730. In 2022 median income was $74,580. Gold is $2,363. Using gold as a reference of value 2363/35=67.5 times as much. $8730X67.5=$589,275 just to break even, The fake dollars are almost WORTHLESS, and the vehicle repairs are cheaper, in value, today.

How did the previous mechanic not notice the worn wheel bearings? Looks like just smash it together and cash in the money for the repair. Actually the differential might also be out of adjustment with that much metal flaks on the diff plug. Just feel bad for the owner cause it's like a never ending problem for him.

i can telll you right now based off what I see with the gauge doing that its the oil pressure sending unit fault the gauge sweeps that's a good sign I have had cars do this key on all the way to right that's a oil pressure fault on the sending unit which means the gauge works fine just the oil pressure read head on the unit is bad

Great video The yellow brake shoe looks very worn on one end Are they made like that ??
@larrywalker77593 ай бұрын
They are made like that because that is the anchor end of the shoe and there is less movement over the life of the shoe. Also very little application pressure of lining against drum on the anchor end, highest application pressure and movement is above the rollers on the cam end of the shoe. Those shoes are almost brand new.

The issue of cost was always going to catch up eventually. The industry has done its best to convince potential buyers that these things are recreational vehicles with all the fancy paint jobs and sparkly bling when in truth they are just jacked-up commercial vehicles with the same costs nailed to them. There is a school of thought that there should be a similar bond system brought in by governments to ensure that owners can actually finance the maintenance costs incurred yearly to ensure these things remain in a safe condition bringing them into the same oversight category as trucks and coaches. Watching a lot of your videos and the horror stories they reveal plus the efforts you go to to make them at least borderline safe at times only serves to add weight to this idea.
