the bus is about 2 inches out from the kerb i dont know what else could have been done..

the bus was as far left as he could be. the van was in his lane..lanes not wide enough..and also the van should have backed off as he was overtaking... one of those things. i am sure worse things happen every day in london

Simply not enough room for the two of them...

The guy was an idiot like most other drivers in London trying to squeeze through a gap at the same time as the bus when you can visually see that there isn't enough room. Just let the bus go through first and then overtake him later it's not rocket science.

Quite simply, these London roads are not fit for two car lanes.

The title should be, "van driver hits london bus", bus couldnt go anywhere, bus was ahead of van, van should have give way to the bus and slowed down.

So the bus, which is 3/4 of the way into the tight spot, is to blame, in spite of the fact that the van driver is now in a much better position to judge there is not going to be enough space for the two vehicles, in spite of the van drivers eyes being about 5 feet fro the point of impact compared to the bus drivers eyes about 30 feet via a wing mirror, in spite of Rule 223 of the Highway Code saying other vehicles should give buses priority, in spite of the van being behind the bus, it's still the bus drivers fault.

the fault lies with the truck, it gets too close to the bus.

Ironic that the only person trying to cause a scene is the cyclist who's not even involved.

Van was stationary when the bus started to move past and would have been wise to just not move also had marginal room to be further right. But the bus also definitely drifts right 0.05 look at the buses position in relation to the zigzag lines, it is inside the lines in the centre of the road and right against the kerb on the left. Look again at 0.07 when the impact occurs the right rear wheel is now on the centre zigzag and there is a gap between the bus and the kerb on the left. Obviously very tight here I would say the van driver had the best opportunity to avoid he could see the buses position more easily and could have waited at the lights until the bus was past or stopped or moved over very slightly before being hit.

wonder if its a common thing for white van man to hit stuff, few months ago i had a guy hit his mirror on my truck to try to squeeze through to the turn lane to sit at the red light, no sorry and just kept going, didnt bother me to much i just gave him the finger as i drove by.

You can clearly see the van is nearly 3ft from the right hand kerb when the mirror gets hit. Bus driver is mere inches from his edge. It's narrow but the bus driver clearly did nothing wrong

loads of idiot van drivers on-road just wants to get ahead of the bus, not knowing these buses pull up frequently.

Bus did nothing wrong , van put himself in that position .

It doesn't matter if he was in his lane or not - if you are driving any motor vehicle and are involved in any incident in which injury or damage is caused, you have an obligation to stop and give insurance details to anyone having reason to require them. So that was hit and run, which is rather a serious offence.

Maybe the bus drive was correct, but if he is not, he doesn't care & #tflofficial don't give a fly fu** :(
