Thanks for being one of the extremely few launch monitor reviewers willing to give an actual opinion rather than simply repeating each company’s marketing material! Is there a reason you haven’t included Skytrak in any reviews yet? I’m trying to compare the various limited-space home monitors like the Bushnell and Skytrak since the Mevo+ requires too much ball flight. PS: My cousin is an aspiring pro golfer and works at Jones - great video with Matt & Chris!

Liked the price review. The GC3 is on sale for "black Friday" at $1K off. I plan on buying the GC3 (tomorrow!) because the total cost of the Bushnell subscription model surpasses the cost of the GC3 between year 4 and 5 depending on which subscription package you purchase and that the annual cost of the Bushnell SW doesn't increase. Also the GC3 does have some features that I really want that adds value for me - it actually measures parameters that the Mevo+ calculates rather than measures. And if you stick on a tag to the club the GC3 gives you swing data not even calculated by the Mevo+. For the "value" between the two I can't argue your logic because the value is dependent on what you are using the device for (and with the GC3 you do get some courses) and how well each unit satisfies your needs.

Great review. It may be worth noting which metrics are measured vs. calculated. The BLP measures all metrics. The Mevo+ measures as well but calculates many metrics. I've owned both and landed on the BLP. FWIW - both are great products.

I have or have had both and I have to say the Mevo + was just too cumbersome to setup and get working and over the short time I had it it was not consistent at all. I know they've done some upgrades and a lot of repricing, but I still think it's just a pain to use. I b ought the Bushnell and just for now have the basic 1st year included subscription. I am loving it's simplicity so far. I do plan on building a simulator so by end of this year I have to make the decision for the fully unlocked or pick my sub plan. I can say it is way easier to use and I love the immediate feedback. I had all sorts of cutout issues with Mevo +. If I just wanted simple range tool, I'd probably opt for the new Voice Caddy SC4 which is just coming out. It looks like the Full swing tool but it's only like $599.

Great review, as always! Just one, quite big note that you missed out - the entire point of Bushnell increasing their prices. Yes, you're paying an extra $1000 for the unit, and most packages have gone up in price - but all packages (especially the Basic package), now include full club head data (Spin Tilt Axis, Back Spin, Side Spin, Club Path, Angle of Attack) and allows you to have full simulation capabilities with all packages. So whilst the up-front cost has gone up, and so have subscriptions, you're able to accomplish full simulation with all of the data unlocked from the most basic package, of which you had to pay their top tier Gold package previously. So it's gone from $799 a year for Gold (and all clubhead data/Simulation software), to just $249 with the Basic package, that is a game changer in itself.

Really appreciate this review since I am looking to sell my Bushnell Launch Pro, but one thing that was incorrect was needing to purchases a yearly package in order to use the Bushnell Launch Pro. The Bushnell Launch Pro offers limited ball/club data without needing to purchase a yearly package. The yearly packages offer upgrades/additional data points/courses, but straight out of the box you can still use the unit without paying anything extra. The data points of the Bushnell Launch Pro out of the box are all someone would need if they are at the range/practicing outdoors.

Hey Sean, thanks for this video. I really like the Mevo + and was looking at setting up a simulator in my garage. Was nervous about the space needed because because of the space requirement of 16ft. Also, I know the Flightscope has access to E6 without an additional fee and also they have a partnership with GSPro where Bushnell does not - but was willing to make the jump to the Bushnell (along with the subscription) due to amount of space needed and I’ve heard over and over again how accurate it is. Makes me sit back and ponder especially now that the price point for the M+ is staying at $1,799. One question, can we use your code to get a discount on the pro package in addition to using your coupon code for the M+? Thanks again!

I don't thiiiink the code works on the Pro Package unfortunately. And all things being equal, yes the Bushnell is going to be better for an indoor setup. But given optimal conditions, the Mevo+ can work extremely well also.

In the comments, Sean and others have mentioned that personal set up makes all the difference. I’m going to buy a launch monitor and put it in my garage. I would love to save money with the Mevo+ Pro at about $2,500 rather than the GC3 at about $7,500. But the Mevo+ user manual says the following things can interfere: 1. Refrigerators. I will have a refrigerator in my garage, although it’ll be behind the Mevo+. 2. TV and laptops. I may have a laptop off to the side of the Mevo+. I definitely want to have a TV or two off to the side of the Mevo+. 3. Fans. I will also have a furnace in the garage (I live in Wisconsin), also behind the Mevo+. I will have a projector, which will be above and ahead of the Mevo+. 4. Cars. I called Flightscope customer service to ask if large metal objects like a car would interfere. The gentleman was unwilling or unable to answer the question. Hence, I have to assume that it might indeed interfere. But, again, the car won’t be ahead of the Mevo+. Anyways, I have no way of knowing if any (or all) of my personal set up issues would affect the Mevo+. Given the uncertainty, I’m leaning towards GC3. I would like to hear your thoughts.

I have the standard Mevo. It's not good indoors, and it's not good without the stickers for spin. If you have an empty wooden shed somewhere that's 10m long, go right ahead and get the Mevo+. Otherwise, optical is the only good option indoors.

I own the Garman R10, which is a Doppler radar device like the Mevo plus. I use it in the backyard so interference didn’t seem like it would be a problem. That was until I wanted a fan to blow some cool air on hot days. Completely jacked up the Doppler radar. Couldn’t even read a shot.

I own both and think this is a good review. One important caveat though is that everything holds IF used in their optimal configurations. For M+ that’s either outdoor or indoor with really 12-14 ft of flight. With less flight, spin axis really is not as reliable and shot shape accuracy questionably reliable (overall shape will be right, but degree can be off - fades could actually be slices, draws could actually be hooks, etc), especially as swing speed increases. For BLP/GC3 it’s anything provided you have a level hitting surface. While the spreads in price point are real, your individual setup and configuration will have a major influence on performance. I personally hit in my backyard into a net, and when I give the M+ 14 feet of flight I feel quite good about the data, but that’s a lot of room to require vs nothing needed for BLP. Both are excellent, but would make your choice based on your true setup/configuration first

In general I am in agreement with your evaluation except the Mevo+ has a few potential deal breakers for some folks you did not bring to light. Bushnell would appear to be going in the wrong direction price wise, but for that money they now also include all the club data (with stickers) in the basic package which wasn't the case before. What you also do not mention is the space required to use either unit indoors. From the FlightScope website the Mevo+ needs: "Indoor Full Swing: 7-9 feet sensor to tee distance with 13 feet of ball flight recommended - metallic dots required". That doesn't factor in the ceiling height required to hit low irons with at least 13ft of travel. This is where the photometric monitors like the Bushnell and Skytrack shine and may be the ONLY choice as they only need enough space to hit a ball and stop it safely. Also launch monitor reviews never take into account the impact of swing and ball speed on accuracy. When you dig deep, particularly with spin data with radar units typically requires certain ball speeds to have read vs. calculated data which also impacts much more of the flight data. It becomes a real conundrum for the senior golf wanting an all purpose unit to build a sim around and take to the range weather permitting so they to can be breaking 80.

I’ve have my Mevo + for 2 years now. In my experience and those posted by others, the minimum requirement for indoor use is 16 feet. If you have a very fast ball speed you’ll probably need 18-20 feet. Even though not officially supported yet, the Titleist RCT balls work well, eliminating the need for stickers. The fusion tracking seems to have helped a lot, with estimated spins kept to a minimum. A few users do seem to have problems - most are caused by environment issues and very fast swing speeds. They do require some effort indoors to get it right, but once dialed in, most have been very happy with them. As an added bonus, they have just integrated with the newer GSPro simulator, which for me has been a game changer over the older E6.

He did mention the room restraints as a factor when deciding between the two….thought he made that very clear up front. I’ve owned the Mevo+ for a few months now…recently, the RCT balls were certified for use with it. I have them and get a misread about 1 in every 20 balls or so, but only on spin…the rest of the reads appear to be accurate as I compare to my numbers I get off Trackman…Distance is the differentiator…You need minimum 7 feet to the unit and 9 feet to your net/screen. Higher ball speed folks may need more, but that distance has worked fine for me…my driver swing speed is 95mph…
@OMG-2
@OMG-2 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the 8ft before & after the ball mentioned in the video is not what is recommended for real use by Flightscope. When asked they say the min is 9/9 and “Optimal Space Requirements for Mevo Plus are: “You should have 9 feet between the sensor and the ball and ideally, you should have 13 feet of ball flight for a total of 22 feet especially if you intend to hit long irons through driver.” And of course your results may vary… Not sure how many folks would want to pay big money to play simulated golf only to have short, inaccurate results for clubs longer than a 6 iron. I’m sure radar golf balls help but the bottom line is photometric launch monitors are the best option for most indoor setups unless you’ve got a room longer than a standard 2 car garage. If you’re only looking for fun then save a lot of money and get a Garmin R10 or SkyTrack but if you want game improvement accuracy indoors, the Bushnell is currently the best option based on all the research I’ve come across. Full disclosure- I don’t own either of these and can only make judgments from reading documentation and support forums before making a buy decision and so far that hasn’t happened (SIGH)

@cwalk2k3
@cwalk2k3 Жыл бұрын
@@aaronlafrenz720 Sorry, to clarify, indoor versus outdoor refers to the ball tracking mode used. Mevo+ has 3 tracking options based on how much flight the ball will have: 1) short indoor (8-12 ft), indoor (13-40 ft), outdoor (unrestricted, like on a course or at a driving range). It doesn’t actually matter if you are physically inside or outside, those are just the names of the modes that the unit uses. If your setup has a good amount of ball flight for the ball (14+ feet), you should get good performance regardless of your swing speed Mevo Plus overall performs well in all modes, but since it’s a radar unit it benefits by having more ball flight and time to read the ball before calculating the rest with algorithms.

The lag between when the shots show up on the screen and having to line the ball up on the laser is a huge deal breaker. Plus the cameras get confused by the sunlight, but the Mevo+ doesn't since it's radar based.
