SharpShootingUK look at the very handy LRHS scopes from Bushnell. Plus: Why choose FFP?

I've evolved over to FFP MILS over the last 30 years. As a Western Canadian hunter, I can verify that the 4.5-18x allows my 7mm Rem Mag to reach out to game at the extremes my bullets are designed for. Other calibers used with FFP are .223 Rem, .308 Win, 300 RUM and 338 LM. Targets at 1000, 1200, 1500 and 1760 yards have been achieved via FFP scopes on my rifles.

Good Vid and Good explanation. I'm American and have some experience with long range shooting. If you like Bushnell stuff, look into the ENGAGE scopes in the higher ranges. I enjoy the Engage 6-18x50 with MOA crosshair set, zeroed at 400 yards. Beyond 200 yards I leave it at 18X and use MOA reticle for wind adjustments, and it is pure joy as a fun gun platform. Internal MOA means you can escape turret adjustment altogether. ALL your attention stays inside the tube. It is pure symphony on an American 300WinMag. Cheers and keep the faith brother!

I just ordered a Bushnell LRTS (new designation) 4.5 - 18 x 44 with the illuminated G3 reticle. BTW, the new LRTS version has PUSH-PULL locking on the windage knob. No more unscrewing the turret cover. It will be on my new 6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro rifle. This combo is for longer ranges found in western US hunting (Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming). Would I shoot an antelope at 1,000 yards with that cartridge? YEP! but not a deer or elk. ** I now have the ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50 with H59 reticle on my 6.5 Creedmoor Ruger Precision Rifle for PRS competition. GREAT scope. BTW, think of this new 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) from Hornady as a "magnum 6.5 Creedmoor". And think of the Browning X-Bolt Pro with its carbon fiber stock and fluted barrel and bolt as a Japanese/American direct competitor to the SAKO Carbonlite but with a properly longer (24") factory lapped barrel - all for about $900. less! I.M.H.O. the Japanese workers at Miroku are producing a rifle every bit as good as the Finnish workers at SAKO.

Great video and editing, subscribed Im currently running the DMR on my 700rem and i love everything about it but i think the field of view at low mag is too narrow. I do both match shooting with it and also hunting, and it there the DMR feels a tad high on the mag. When your in the blind and the moose comes out the brush at 50 meters i only have 2,5meters (!!!) field of view witch is too narrow unless the elk is standning still for a long time. So im really considering the 3-12 lrhs, but am being a bit put off by the cap'ed windage turret since im used to calling wind fast both in the nature and on matches and always want to have it availiable. Ive seen bushnell is launching the more tactical LRTS(i-illumi). Have not found them anywhere in Europe yet, but they are supposed to be just like the LRHS but with a "real" windage turret and also illumination as an option, same mag choieses. You seem to be knowledgeable about scopes, do you know anything about these? Cheers from Sweden

I'm not going to buy another SFP with markings on the reticle and I've found I don't touch the windage turret (out to 600 m), so I like the design philosophy of these.

Couldn't agree more on the Rainguard HD coating...it's probably the main reason why I grab to my Elite ED 8x42 binoculars almost every time I go out on a cloudy/rainy day. It really does the job...i f you ask me just as good as that Lotutec-coating from Zeiss but for a fraction of the price. And in all fairness...the optical quality of the Elite ED 8x42 is pretty damn good for the money...but let's not go there, it's dangerous discussion 😬😬

FFP all the way. I've had lengthy discussions with old-timers dead set of SFP, who I think are more interested in trying to sound smart or just be contrarian. Fact is FFP with a good reticle is simply faster for ranging, elevation holdover, windage hold-off, leads, spotting, and as stated here, impact adjustments.

Richard, are you still a fan of these LRHS scopes? When they released the illuminated versions it drove the price down on this model. There is a 25% rebate offer which would let me purchase the 4.5-18x44 w/G2H reticle for $800 USD (£ 615) through a certain shop. I'm looking to step up from some budget glass but I'm not prepared to get into the tier 1 glass of $2k-$3k at this point.

Really like the LRHS the reticule is very intuitve as well, any idea where you can purchase the model with the IR ?, i cannot seem to find one. Found one non IR for less then £600 which is a real bargain, but would prefer IR

A FRONT FOCAL PLANE IS ALWAYS THE BEST OF THE TWO, YOU NEED TO RAISE THE MAGNIFICATION FOR ANY SCOPE TO ADJUST IT FOR RANGE!! HOWEVER, NOT ALL SCOPE COMPANIES CAN PRODUCE AN ILLUMINATED RETICLE FOR A FRONT FOCAL PLANE NOW THAT THEIR PATENTED! IF THEY ARE, THEN THEIR IN THE REAR FOCAL PLANE...TOO LITTLE TOO LATE!! AND THE BEST ALL AROUND MAGNIFICATION WOULD BE THE 4.5 TO 18, WHICH IS PERFECT; HOWEVER, A CAPPED WINDAGE IS NOT AT ALL DESIRABLE, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE VISIBLE FOR THE SHOOTER!!! THE HORUS RETICLE, YOU SELDOM EVER SEE WHERE THE BULLET HITS AT LONG RANGE, MAKING THE HORUS RETICLE TOTALLY UNNECESSARY AND A WAIST OF MONEY, TRUST YOUR RIFLES ADJUSTMENTS AND YOUR SKILL TO HIT YOUR TARGET, AS IT SHOULD BE!!!!

I've heard the LRHS glass from LOW IIRC is better than their ERS/DMR counterparts. Do you feel the same?
@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK7 жыл бұрын
No the 30mm LRHS glass is great but utterly outclassed by the DMR/ERS optics
@5RWill7 жыл бұрын
Richard Utting interesting I will see for myself I guess. Reports from many shooters that have both have been quite the opposite. Least I'm expecting it to be extremely good coming from LOW. I've seen comparisons of it hanging with a premier LT, beating a leupold mark 6, and of course it's bigger brother the ERS.

Richard I love your videos and your reviews based on your fantastic knowledge and experience , but this video is killed by the constant stopping to read subtitles . It ruins the flow of the review. You always have lots to say but if you think of something else during editing , couldn't you just do a voice over at the end like a final thought . Not moaning , just saying . Keep em coming .

Thanks for the feedback. The reason I use the text boxes is that they act as chapter stops and that gives folks something to scroll through to. I thank you for your solid attention but some folks just want the highlights! Can't please everyone bud. ATB Richard
