@@kapsisback8893 Because you could get him at 12. And the draft only proved that. The only team that the Niners appear to realistically be competing for to get Jones was NE. So you'd have to assume Bill would completely break his typical strategy and throw a bunch of picks away to trade up. It never meant sense.

I disagree. Try Lynch was a strong reach at 3. The organization is not getting the criticism they deserve for drafting wannabe mahomes just to sit him on the bench. The No. 3 pick should be ready to start. I dont get it. I guess he’s worth picking at 3 because he’s athletic but hes only played like 20 games at quarterback his whole life🤷🏻♂️

as a 49er fan i am glad we were aggressive and made the trade for 3 and if it don't pan out then guess what we at least tried to get our future at QB cause we all know you need QB in the NFL or you will just be a bland team year in and year out. Also the beauty of lance is you can draw up runs for him but hes a pretty good pocket passer lance will run when needed but he aint gonna have to run all the time like lamar

If you have the better QB it is worth any two other players. Mahomes is more valuable than Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey combined. Also trading up for 99% certainty vs standing put for 70% certainty at QB is just a no brainer to trade up and get the guy you believe in.

They did talk, Shanahan didn't tell him everything most likely. Simms said they talked in January and again after the draft.

Simm's has mentioned before that the two of them talk football all the time. What they do NOT discuss are details specifically about the 49ers or the specifics and decisions of Kyle's job as HC.

I’ve never seen a team turn around their offensive line so quickly the way Kansas City has this offseason. A month ago after they released Fisher and Schwartz it looked like one of the worst O lines but now it is one of the best with a lot of depth. I love how Brett Veach and Andy Reid just went all in on the position that lost them the SuperBowl. Mahomes with an elite offensive line is gonna be fun to watch.

I'm no qb coach but watching fields and his throwing motion, I don't know what Chris is taking about. He transfers weight, keeps his left shoulder in, his right arm is an L, he has a good base. It looks fine.

I think he doesn’t like how his elbow comes over the top of the ball at the point of release. I don’t know if that actually effects much but I’m pretty sure that’s it

Yes listen to a career backup Qb's talking about qb's that's better than they could imagine to be. I'll always refer back to the legends of the game or played at a high level at their position to get advice on what players are gonna be or not, a clipboard carrier i'll never take serious they're jealous of the real talented guys so they look for themselves in other lowly picks...

Yea as much I didn’t like this year QB rankings but his track record is insane he always gets them right. His 2018 Ranking had so much hate like this and he got that on the dot.

My opinion, selecting Lance gives the Niners a higher chance of getting the 32nd pick in the draft, so the value of the 2 picks drops. I prefer to have Lance and lose those two picks.

@@dybo79 Unlikely. I would be surprised if he starts, but the future will tell. Perhaps not eloquently stated, but I'd prefer Lance without the two picks (which should be very late round picks if they play to potential) than Jones, who I think would end up needing higher picks than they should have to ensure enough talent around him to be successful. Since that shoudn't happen, Lance without the picks is a better move.

@@ramongonzalez2112 Well it is obviously comparable to other picks. But a late round pick is closer to an early 2nd round pick than a mid first round pick IMO. That said, the question that was posed was two picks and Jones or Lance with no picks. I prefer Lance (apparently Kyle and co. do too). PS - stop putting that negative energy out there (about Niners not winning the SB).

Probably both. But if they both flame out NE only loses a 15 and my Niners blow 3 ones and a 3rd rounder. Belicek makes Shanahan look like a kindergartner after this one. Mac is in a great situation and BB had his guy fall in his lap.✌️

Thank God we don’t have Simms in the 49ers front office! I think he’s been on an island with Jones as the 3rd best QB. Time will tell how both end up but feel we won the pick! I really never heard him say much about Lance until the last week.

Mac Jones actually could have been pretty darn good for the 49ers, with shanahans offense. Lance definitely has more potential, but he hasn’t played in a year which raises some eyebrows. Mac Jones is an upgrad over jimmy g since he can push the ball downfield. But they could not pass on the potential of lance and pick Jones.

The problem with taking Phillips (Miami) is concussions get MORE FREQUENT once you've had more than one. He's had "multiple" concussions. It's stupid for him to risk permanent brain damage when he is at such high risk. THAT'S why I wouldn't Draft him.

They did didn’t they. Its just too bad all the QB’s in this draft stink. The media is giving the 49ers a big pass. They let Shanahan get away with drafting Lineman 3 straight years and missing on the likes of Mahomes and Watson. This is wannabe mahomes and it will cost him his job.

Interesting in that WHERE these 3 qb’s actually went will determine their success, and it looks likely that that will become self-fulfilling in Simms’ projections. Mac Jones will be a success BECAUSE he went to NE. Lance will thrive at SF with Shannihan’s offense and that running game. Fields has a much much harder pathway to success on a weak offense in Chicago. Meanwhile Lawrence and Wilson will be underwhelming given where they are going. After 3 years there is a good chance Jones is the most successful of the group.

Time will tell. Going on Simms track record I'm actually scared about the Pats now. The weapons they added in FA combined with drafting Mac Jones, a real QB compared with Scam Newton they could be sneaky good this coming season. Would not be at all surprised if he beats out Scam for the starting gig and Lance sits a whole nother season behind Jimmy Porn!

A hilarious double down by Simms on his Mac Jones pushing. After being completely wrong on the 49ers wanting Mac Jones, now everybody else wanted him (and not Lance) and lost interest when the 49ers moved up (presumably for Jones). Wonderful "everyone is as wrong as me logic". Also, Im not sure how Simms thinks this all works, but none of the agents for Jones, Fields, or Lance, would have had a "landing spot" for their guy, because any GM planning to take him isn't going to advertise that and risk another team jumping ahead. The only team that could have conceivably told them they were taking Lance was the 49ers. An agent making phone calls doesn't mean he was falling to 12.

The evidence is actually quite clear, the guy he was pushing went 15 and 5th of the top 5 QB'S. The whole I know my friend and he will pick Mac and him being wrong has him salty.

Kyle loved Jones but didn’t think he’d fall to 12. Well, he did, and if Lance doesn’t payoff, this has been a panic ridden, disastrous draft for my Niners.😱

Kyle's biggest flaw is that he thinks he's smarter than everybody else. In 3 years when he keeps losing with Lance he'll be fired and the rest of the league will laugh at the 9ers and Kyle for passing on Jones.

I hope Lance does well, but you’re right. Shanahan acted like a lunatic in this draft. He could have had Jones at 12 and kept the picks.He completely panicked and gave away the farm. Another option was take Farley at 12 and take Trask or Mond in 2nd rd. Awful.🤮

@@ramongonzalez2112 The thing is also that Lance had only 318 snaps in total as a Q.B. To select a guy with that low of snaps playing 1 full season in a soft division is imbecilic at best. In the history of NFL not a single Q.B. out of college with that low of snaps in his resume did amount to anything let alone winning in platy offs or let alone super bowl. This was a huge P.R. thing as far as I'm concerned as Kyle was being pressured towards the end to select an African American player. Almost every commentator was practically pleading with Kyle to select Lance or Fields.
