Prisoner's dilemma has to be one of the coolest magic cards ever printed from a flavour perspective. It conveys the real prisoner's dllemma problem perfectly.

To be fair, the Prisoner’s Dilemma is abstract and pretty simple. I honestly think it would be hard to get wrong designwise.

The main thing complicating it in this rendition is you want your opponents to take damage, where in a standard prisoners dilemma situation you don't actively want longer sentences for your accomplices.

I think Feather as a “ancestral mask” deck would be really cool- using all of the Kor Spiritdancer, Ancestral Armor, All That Glitters effects and getting extra copies of those effects should snowball very quickly. I also really like the idea of throwing a few Vows or Impetuses on Feather and some opponents commanders as well to cause some problems. Bestow also is pretty funny when you copy them!

This was my least favorite of the themes before going in, but I was pleasantly surprised by how strong and fun it looked. I don’t think it’s the best of the four (that goes to the clue deck easily) but it doesn’t seem weak either

Really like this precon a lot! No legendary creature reprints that make Nelly irrelevant like the clue deck had, and all of the new cards go a long way towards fully realizing an undersupported mechanic!

I'm really excited for this one! I've always wanted to build a goad deck, but the lack of payoffs or ways to end the 2-player game has always pushed me away from it. This deck seems like it solves a lot of those issues!

The Blame Game precon just gave me the last key pieces of my super evil mega-goad deck! My deck not only goads- it drops huge giant growth, double power and doublestrike effects on goaded creatures. I want to put eldrazi conscription, colossification, gigantiform and all that glitters on goaded creatures. It will be hilarious to cast a might of oaks and an unleash fury just when someone allows a tiny goaded critter to get through! Giving limited protection to Feather is a good way to get the negative auras off if you're going to try a more control playstyle with auras and stuff. Mother of Runes, Giver of Runes, a bunch of white instants, etc.

Might I suggest Kitsune Mystic/ Autumn-Tail Kitsune Sage? For a mere 1 you can move the aura from Feather to ANY other creature.

I do want to bring up that suspecting a creature is static and when you attack that creature can’t block so if you get going early you should have some decent attacks

You comment about playing Deflecting Palm into Wheel of Misfortune absolutely blew my mind. I never thought about doing that and that is a perfect alternate way to just delete someone in my Stuffy Doll deck. As far as my thoughts on this deck: Looks interesting, new Feather was done dirty with that needless 2 mana clause (seems like they were over cautious here), has a couple interesting new cards in Take the Bait and Prisoner's Dilemma, but my main interest is the large number of higher value reprints. Seems like each deck received 4-5 high value reprints which is awesome.

As someone with a dedicated goad deck, I'm oddly not too high on most of the new cards. I run Kitt Kanto, and Hot Pursuit is kind of awkward because my opponent's creatures aren't usually goaded on my own turn. I guess in Kitt Kanto's case, the deck can also be a tokens deck, so it has other ways to close the game. I'm most excited for Nelly Borca themself because there's not a lot of payoffs for goading creatures beyond the inherit effect of goad itself in Naya colors.

The vow enchantments are specific in an apponent being unable to attack or block, it could be fun to pump the enchanted creatures with big enchantments like colossification. On your turn you can cast a borrow/steal spell, untap and use that creature to finish off the last surviving opponent. Especially if you can or if it has trample.

@@Cyberium So I’m not the only person who gets irritated when a new 5c legendary creature gets printed seemingly just to allow for 5c Commander decks? *** That and the massive explosion of legendary creatures in general. Part of what made things fun is trying to solve the puzzle.

Couldn´t you also cast "Take the bait" at the beginning of combat step from an opponent before they declare attackers to have them swing double at your opponents in case they control creatures with vigilance and it´s also a fog when there ist just one opponent. Really like the card and the fog meta is real.

I think my biggest issue with Feather is that she doesn't have any synergy with anything else in the precon. Like, I guess she let's you Chaos Warp multiple things if you also hit her? Yay? She should have switched places with either Agrus Kos or even Aurelia in the main set.

‘Being mean’ is an inherent part of playing mtg because winning is implicitly a goal everyone is going for. It’s up to my opponents to use their own decks to prevent my efforts to ‘be mean’ to them (read: interact with them in any way)

I don't like that Hot Pursuit is worded that way. It means that pods that started at 3, this card is just "goad one target". If it were worded such that it's second function happened if there were two players maximum at the start of the turn, it could work in smaller pods, or in standard.

Switch the face commander, put it in the 99, make Aurelia, the Law Above from the main set as the commander. That's my plan. And switching a lot of cards for actual good cards

I like Aurelia, but I'd recommend the face commander for this precon. Borca gives two different and good incentives to attack each other which is the whole point of the deck, and draws you cards in the process. Aurelia literally does the opposite, it deters opponents from attacking each other, because only you get to draw cards.

Fearher worries my, they seem to print a commander that makes copy-permanents every set now. This seems like it will be simmiliar to make legendary no longer matter as a drawback and realy don't like were this is going.

I am expecting to see a lot of people who are relying on the 'soft encouragement' to get alpha striked for 40 damage by the rest of the table, because every player at my lgs kills decks that try and discourage attacking them as the first target.

As someone who can rarely get 4 people together for commander I usually end up playing 1v1. So goad is always a bummer mechanic for me.

I think Trouble in Pairs is easily gonna be the most overrated card of the set. White keeps getting these card draw spells that look really impressive, but are conditional on your opponents actions, and they never pan out. Perfect scenario is that ittl draw you like 3 cards a turn, in reality there will be games where it draws 0-1 cards a cycle, and paying 4 mana for a worse Phyrexian Arena will feel awful.

It's impressive simply because it's *all* of those kinds of effects, together (and randomly hoses extra turns, sure, w/e). Any single one of these effects is underwhelming, but having a limitation on both cards played *and* cards drawn is really annoying - and you can't even player-removal very well without feeding cards! There will still be times where it's bad, but tbh the same goes for Smothering Tithe: sometimes you just don't have a way to spend the treasures, or it comes down too late and people pay for it, or there's a Sire of Insanity and people pay for it because they have nothing else to do. It happens. Trouble in Pairs is naturally not quite as high-rolley as Smothering Tithe (forcing Trouble with Howling Mine is less explosive than Tithe/wheel), but I think it will very consistently be either a good soft prison/stax/pillowfort piece, or a good Phyrexian Arena: both good outcomes. If all of your opponents are all only playing one spell per turn, not drawing extra cards, not attacking you... is that bad?

Completely disagree. Out of 3 opponents who is not going to be drawing a second card on their turn? That happens constantly. Let alone second spells on a turn which typically happens around turn 4 to 5 right around when you play this. I run Smugglers share and it consistently draws cards so I see this as an upgrade draw wise.

People like to act like people are constantly popping off in Commander, and some games are like that, but you also have to judge cards like this by it's floor. Reality is that some games, you drop this on turn 4, next opponent casts their commander and passes, next opponent casts an equipment and equips it, next opponent passes with all their mana open cus they play at instant speed, and your 4 mana enchantment did nothing that turn cycle. There's gonna be many such cases where this card takes a turn cycle or two to really return on investment, and if this is your card draw engine you're gonna start to fall behind. If you really are in a situation where you're opponents are drawing a lot of cards and casting a lot of spells, that heat can easily be coming at you with all your triggers. It's also gonna be such a bad topdeck. Like in a vacuum this card looks crazy, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum.

With all respect, why is trouble in pairs a new cedh staples the most favorite card of yours? At all that reminds me why are you guys using a huge load of the strongest cards magic can offer in a self named casual table? With that action you shift the perception and reality of powerlvl for yourself and the audience. Its natural that powerlvl shifts but not to that degree. i have seen players that think having around fifteen or more cedh cards is a "casual" deck on a 6 or 7 on the powerlevel scale. Just cause they see you guys (and alot more content creators) play a huge amount of them yourself. I didnt want to make someone down, i just wish there would be more self-reflection and awareness on that. Esp cause elder high dragons was about finding a home for cards that rotated out or never had a place to shine. But i gues today its all about staple tribes and new staples.
