Print owned by PopKorn Kat, Transfer by Tommy Jose Stathes
Robert Bentley, known for working on Frank Tashlin's early WB cartoons and the Woody Woodpecker shorts, may have been a possible animator on this.

Not else is known about the Buster Bear Cartoons, except for rumors that the producer would physically assault his staff for turning in work late. Yeesh.

Incredibly insane rumors: - Two other shorts apparently were made: “The Life and Adventures of Buster” (1930) and “Buster in The Spring Carnival” (1931) - The series hurt Warner Bros financially, as the Vitaphone actually flopped in sales - Warner also found out that McCrory would, get this, *beat his staff* if they didn't get their work turned in on time

You know, McCrory kind of sounds a lot like John K., the creator of Ren and Stimpy, where he was such a perfectionist (among other things that no one should be proud of) that he would literally rip drawings from animators’ faces if he wasn’t pleased with them. Crazy how history repeats itself… Ironically, John was never able to keep up with deadlines himself, ultimately leading to his firing from Nick among other things. Wonder if McCrory had something similar happen with WB?

@@loganw.3654but yet again who knows, the production of the buster bear cartoons are surrounded in a lot of mystery, some claim the first one was in 1929, others like here in 1930 and some say the other shorts never existed. Also from what I can find there doesn’t seem much to be much evidence to support how Mccroy would beat his staff so I’m not so sure about that claim since it seems like a spread around rumor to me.

All of these debunked, one short was made only, and it was released in 1930 from the roman-numerals seen in the title, also the beating staff is a rumor

I'm glad they replaced these shorts with the Looney Tunes because, aparrently, the producer of the Buster Bear cartoons would beat up his staff if they do not turn in work on time.💀

Now what would've happened if Buster became a villain in the Looney Tunes Series?

Hey, I also have exactly that idea, that Buster Bear became an antagonist of Looney Tunes because he was never taken into account by Warner Bros. and having been forgotten by everyone, it would be a great idea for the character to return in that way, it would be interesting.

@@garfeldi_gaming I already know that, but I understand that that is just a rumor, but in the same way, obviously Warner Bros. I will not bring it back, it is more than forgotten, I would even say that it is possibly in the public domain (although this is not confirmed).

Interesting, this has Van Beuren/Paul Terry feeling to it, but I’d still take Bosko and the early Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies over this however

Yep! Steve Stanchfield scanned the original camera negative, but it is unknown when it will be released to the public

The owner of the print (name of them in the description) sent this scan to me, and this is the only Buster short ever made

@JasonBAnimation what else do you remember hearing or seeing about Buster Bear? There was another cartoon someone tried saying was related called the Two Bears, but I have a suspicion it may be a Bill Nolan short and not McCrory, but I'm open to hearing the whole story.
