The old town is very beautiful and has been well preserved and maintained by Hanoians. It is a rare architectural masterpiece that survived the four wars (France, America, Khmer rough, China) that Vietnam faced in the 20th century. With very limited funds, Hanoians tried to protect and renovated the old town during the post-war period. The architecture was planned and built more than 100 years ago during the French colonial period for life with horse-drawn carriages, not suitable for modern means of transportation in the 21st century. But Hanoi Old Quarter is still very wonderful for tourists while walking.

Thanks for sharing the history. We learnt a little when we were there. It's an amazing place for sure. So many little bits of architecture to look at and how the whole Old Quarter is put together. Fascinating place.

That so cool, you clearly had the skills and courage to cross the roads. It is amazing how one can do it and not get hit! I always was a bit anxious about banging into a parked scooter and creating a Domino effect, when walking on the pavement. Thank you so much. I recognized a few places.

Oh gosh that domino effect would be awful!! We had a local friend show us how to do it. It does feel a little scary at first, and like there is no system, but actually it all works together!!

Do you know the cafe well? We saw several cute little doggies on our trip, a couple looked like they needed a good bath and some love sadly.

@@WONDERLUSTworld Yes I've visited that cafe a couple of times during my visits to Hanoi. It's a nice place to chill. I think you can find it on google map. Same sentiments about the doggos

Hi WonderLust, I have Never been to Vietnam to me the place look a bit like Taiwan. Look like the weather is great nice and cooling.

I haven’t been to Taiwan. It was cool for our days but the week before had been the hottest on record for years! So we had very cool weather 🌦️

It has been yes, the week before we went Hanoi had the highest recorded temperature in many years!! When we were there it rained heavily through the night so it was cooler in the day. We even felt a little chilly at points 😝
