I used to play a double IWB and double Mezzala in a 4 3 3 dm. With 2 If staying wider, I liked the inverted pyramid effect I got, was fun to play

2x IWB att and a middle 3 of WM sup on each wing + one DLP support....the IWB - bomb forward whilst the other 3 manage the space....works really well...vut stamina and work rate needs to be high.....

The IWB is the prime example of why I want SI to change how roles and instructions work in this game. The game tells you to play a left footed guy on the right side when in reality it just means that the full back moves inside. Like Nagelsmann has Pavard move inside to form a back 3 when Davies attacks on the left. The game doesn't really explain that very well IMHO. A lot of roles or duties should be converted into instructions.

Using IWB in a fun way

I’ve been playing IWBs in a 4-4-2, with them coming central to cover for 2 CMs on attack.

I find the lone iwb much more effective to use, I think they perform better when they don't have a winger in front of them. They position themselves more aggressively and also sometimes function as a normal wingback which creates variety of plays. The down side of this is that they leave so much space behind, but that's usually worth it.

Why does the attacking wingers sit so narrow in attack? I find that in my own saves as well. It is hard to get them to stay wide when we arrive into the final third and are sitting in the opponents half camping.
