Just got a 2nd hand 4.5 butane bottle for a tenner with a black cap. This video helped. Shame the idiots on eBay sent me a 21mm regulator by mistake.

Thank you for the important info with regards to the (colour coded) valve sizes. That's why my black capped (20mm) cylinder valve won't connect to my 21mm regulator....! New 20mm regulator ordered. Thank you.

I noticed while you were talking, that a Kampa mobile gas heater was having it's annual service. The procedure is, with the safety guard removed, blow all dust and dirt from the radiant ceramic plaques with compressed air, then run compressed air through the back of the pilot to blow out all dust'n'dirt preventing a yellow tip and sooting of the radiant ceramic plaques, increasing the likelihood of carbon monoxide poisoning. All mobile heaters regardless of type (radiant / catalytic / living flame), and indeed all LPG appliances, should receive an annual service to keep them safe at all times. That has lead me to a thought, could HandyHire offer such servicing for mobile heaters at a reasonable price? Basic service about £40 (blow dust off ceramic plaques or burners and burner air intake on Manhattan and Provence heaters and blow dust and dirt from the pilot and air intake of that pilot). A complete service at £50, all the above, but with additional replacement of the regulator and tubing.

Hi, brill video. We've got the first one you showed, the 21mm regulator, press the button in to release the valve, but ours has been sat outside for probably over 2 years. We moved house recently and had a friend who tried to remove the regulator so we could transport the gas canister safely. It turned out it seemed to be seized in place, they couldn't get it off so they just removed the tube and made sure it wasn't leaking. I can see that the regulator seems to be mounted slightly off centre and tilted to one side. The lever to turn gas on and off won't move and I think that's because it's linked to the release button which is either pressed all the way in or all the way out. That button doesn't seem to want to budge. I'm guessing the regulator is half way removed and causing the release button to lock in turn locking the valve lever. I'm wondering if you.habe any advice. I've tried using just the strength of my hand to try and press it back on, but no joy. I was thinking of giving it a few taps with a heavy rubber hammer to see if I can knock it back on to the canister and then have a go at releasing it properly. What do you think?
