I don't know why it took me so long to do this, but yes you can make lace with buttercream! It may be a little time consuming for a big cake, but it is so worth the time. I hope you enjoy!
American Buttercream= • Bright White Bubble-Fr...
Lace Buttercream:
1 cup high ratio or beef based shortening
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp clear vanilla
1 to 4 Tbs milk
Cream shortening. Sift the powdered sugar into the shortening. Add vanilla and mix until incorporated. Add enough milk so that it is the consistency of peanut butter.

I absolutely love all of your videos. I watch them all the time and I had a question. I’ve noticed many cakes with a shimmer on them almost like the buttercream looks iridescent. I generally use buttercream and rarely fondant. I’m wondering is there a way to get that effect with buttercream? Also, how do you get that effect with fondant? Thank you for taking the time to share all your time with us.

That is probably a disco dust of some kind. You can find iridescent dusts on Amazon. For buttercream I dust with a fluffy brush or blow it in with my airbrush. For fondant, it is basically the same.

Thanks! I have used high fat ratio, but yo can use the Walmart brand that has beef fat in it too. Just not the vegetable shortening.
