Batoids are plate-gilled fish that constitute the superorder Batoidea, batoids are split into two major lineages, which are the grandorders Pristomorphii and Rajomorphii, the former contains the orders Rhinobatiformes (Guitarfish) and Pristiformes (Sawfish), while the latter is split into the orders Platyrhiniformes (Fanrays and Panrays), Rajiformes (Skates), Urogymniformes (Porcupine Ray and Fossil Relatives), Mobuliformes (Mobulids and Butterfly Rays), Torpediniformes (Electric Rays), and Dasyatiformes (Stingrays), within the grandorder Rajomorphii, it is split into the mirorders Rajimorphae for the orders Platyrhiniformes, Rajiformes, Urogymniformes, and Mobuliformes and Dasyatimorphae for the orders Torpediniformes and Dasyatiformes.
