We caught a Spanish Dancer at the beach yesterday, I still don't know how it got passed the tight netting which prevented fish from entering the swimming area, but it was there and we caught it. It was the most vibrant critter I've ever laid my eyes and hands-on. We figured that if anybody else saw it, they'd immediately report it to the lifeguards there who were notoriously unforgiving to any fish that slips through that safety net, let alone a rarely seen wild sea slug. So I swam as far as the nettings would go and gently tossed the lil' guy out to freedom...

Heh...technically this is another type of mollusk that is separate from both slugs (who never have a shell at any point in their life cycle) and snails (who have shells for their entire life cycle, and instantly die without them). As stated in the video, these guys are born with shells then get rid of said shells. However, because science is never settled and is actually inconsistent a.f., you will find all sorts of scholarly resources that still refer to these critters as "sea slugs."

Wonderful presentation! I am on a journey to draw and paint all 3,000 known varieties! This made me laugh so much! I was SCUBA. Certified in 1975 in La Jolla and my favorite life form is still the nudibranch!

I take a lot of zoology classes, and I remember at least one professor did that. It was an epic moment for me, a long time fan. Edit: I checked my course slides and in my primatology class, the professor linked to the tarsier video in our lecture on tarsiers, saying “take a look at this KZfaq, which is a) a fantastic overview of tarsier characteristics, and b) just really funny and entertaining, and it’s probably more effective than you learning the material I’m about to present in the next seven slides”. Fun class.

I just bought one of these guys for my tank which makes seeing this video show up on my YT wall kind of weird considering I have never done a search on them. My favorite episode of True Facts. I learned about nudibranchs' existence from this, and I couldn't be more thankful since they're one of my favorite animals. They're freaky like most creatures on the sea-floor, but they aren't too disgusting anatomy-wise. It's that perfect balance of being weird without being gross. Plus, add that to the whole centaur(oid)/mermaid thing of connecting the human waist-up to the neck-down of an animal; with that animal being a nudibranch(adjusted to proportion), that there's a cool design. Well, that means this video is partially responsible for using that nudibranch-centaur idea in my Ed Edd n' Eddy AU fanfiction, but that's better than it sounds out of context.

Well land slugs are like that too. It is near their head and when they do their little slug dance their glowing genitals sometimes get stuck and they just break them off and regrow as well. Lol.
