Buttermilk Pie... So Good!

Sensational Buttermilk Pie! Easy and delicious...
Let pie cool completely before slicing.

Ingredients:
1 unbaked pie crust
8 tablespoons melted butter
1 - 1 ½ cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 beaten eggs (at room temperature)
1/3 cup flour
1 cup full-fat buttermilk
Bake at 350 f. for 50 minutes

I was introduced to buttermilk pie approximately 5 years ago ! OMG , this pie is to die for ! The first bite is an awakening to your tastebuds. And you literally have to keep the bites coming ! I ate 3 slices ! No, this is not good, but I literally could not help myself !! So delicious guys ! I dare you guys to try it !!! Um hmn so good !

I've made this several times and it's always a hit! I also put the batter in small glass Pyrex cups and make it like custard and that's really good too. Your recipe and technique are simple and easy. Thank you for the education. I also appreciate your voice, it's clear, loud enough, and has that old-timey twang to it that can't be duplicated.

Ken, I’ve said it before, but your recipes are absolutely the best. I watch a lot of cooking videos, but I find myself cooking your recipes multiple times a week. In fact, while watching this video, I have your peach cobbler recipe I’m the oven now. I’ll be serving it tonight at a Halloween party along with a couple others of your recipes. Thanks for the videos! If you happen to go camping this fall, I would love to see a video of that as well. Hi James: my husband and I camped in Estes Park in 1967. When we were on our way home, we looked for a place to eat besides the usual hamburger chains. At a traffic light I hollered asked a taxi driver beside us if he might tell us a good place to eat lunch. He replied, “ Sure can, just follow me!”. He went straight to Fur’s! There was a beautiful grand piano which a gentleman played and we had a delicious meal. I’m sorry to learn they went out of business. I hope the Barn Door in San Antonio still going strong. We want to go there again before we croak! Stay well! Liz

If you don't have buttermilk you can make it fast...to one cup of milk you add one tablespoon of either white vinegar or lemon juice and let it sit for 20 minutes and stir it before you use it......This looks delicious!! Thanks for the recipe, Ken : )

Hi Kim I was happy to see your buttermilk pie recipe because I've been making this one for years. I only use a cup of sugar because for me that seems to be enough and also sometimes I make a rich homemade buttery graham cracker crust recipe and that makes it really good and special!👍🏻

Yes, one cup of sugar would be my choice too. I guess it depends on the individual. My wife liked it sweeter.

I only use o e cup of sugar too. I love this pie! Its just the right light dessert to finish off a meal. You can also make this with NO pieshell! Just pour the filling into the pie dish and bake. It comes out like its in a shell. If yoh are trying to cut back on calories then this is the best of both worlds.

Agreed. I tried your version a little over a month ago as well as your crust. It was so easy. The custard was firm, aromatic and filled with lemony goodness. The crust was buttery ,flaky and perfect. I had moved out of state and was home sick. The pie made feel like my Grammy and my Ma were right with me. I must admit I cried a little. I must also admit I ate the whole thing🤭.

That's my daughter's favorite pie and she's been asking me to make one and this recipe is so easy! I don't usually buy buttermilk. Do you think using the whole milk w/ 2Tbsps of vinegar to make buttermilk substitute, work? Hmm...i'm going to give it a go and see how it turns out. @@KenClick oh yes I Kno. I've made it before but didn't remember all the ingredients. I'm new at making this dish. I taste it once and wanted to learn how my self. Do u have a video for peach cobbler??
