Another from my 1965 WNET series for children on "What's New." This might be a variation on the song "Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier." I don't know.

Had I known of you 50 years ago I would have done anything to meet you. What music we could have made.

I was super young when this show was on. I mostly remember the title song, "What's New?" And I have a vague recollection of science experiments. I wish I remember your singing. So glad we have some of it on KZfaq. Thanks for posting.

Lyman - I only did 6 episodes of "What's New." The host was Al Binford. You might be able to look him up and find some info, if you'd like. I have many more of these videos on KZfaq. Thanks for watching!

How did you learn all this wonderful material?

When you're young and interested you inhale songs. It's very hard for me to learn a new song at my current age. I do it though. Thanks!

@@tracynewman3256 Thank you for your reply! I guess that I meant to ask where did you come across old songs like this one. Were people that you knew playing them or did you seek them out from sources you had?

A lot of sources. Fellow folk singers, yes, and lots of books - Jerry Silverman's "Folk Song Encyclopedia" is great, and another is "Rise Up Singing" - really comprehensive. Good luck!

This is known as "Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier". I heard Pete Seeger sing it the same is how you do it, but heard him sing about Buttermilk Hill and a sword and shield.

She's only gone and Killed the song with her sterile abilities. Shocking.
