Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower kzfaq.infoUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzfaq.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I used to do lawncare professionally for many years. I have used them all. Zero turn walk behinds. Riders, stand on. From most of the big companies. ( great dane, scagg, bunton, toro etc.) And i will say that out of all the mowers i used the great dane zero turn surfer. Was the best. It was a stand on mower. It was one if not the first stand on. Now everyone has them. There was no stopping it. It would go up steep hills no problem. You could go side ways on hills so steep you could hardly stand on them. It was fast did a great job. But they quit makong them. I talked to the owner of the company i worked for and he said he now used toro grandstands. That is toros version of the stand on mower. He said it is about as good as the great dane was. Zero turns are the way to go. I bought a Husqvarna riding mower for the wife ( thinking she was going to be the one to mow the yard) i ended up mowing it most of the time. So that rider got sold asap. And i got a toro time cutter. I can do the yard in almost half the time.as the rider. And it looks better.

I would look at Exmark and Ariens - I have had both and both are excellent for 2 to 5 acres - get the entry level commercial zero turn - but beware that these are pretty heavy and if you have a real damp yard these could give you ruts - but as far as quality, reliability, and long life with a good cut - man I don't think you can beat either one!

When we moved from a garden home to a 7 acre ranch-style property with 5 mowable acres, I got a Kubota zg127s with a grass catcher for about $5700 9 years ago. It works fine but I wished I could have tried each model on the lot - like 200s, 400s, and 700s. I wouldn't have mind buying bigger if I needed it. That 127s did fine, but it had issues with steep hills and slopes. That model doesn't have brakes so the only way to slow down is reversing the handles, which to me seems like a bad idea. But any way what happens is I pick up speed downhill and eventually I lose traction and start veering off into whichever direction the mower feels like. My brother-in-law bought a new 781 last year and I borrowed it for 2 weeks and wow what a difference. No issues at all on hills and even though both mowers had the same 54 in deck width, I shaved off 2 hours from my normal 4.5 hour marathon. I ordered a new 726x last week and am just waiting on it. Can't wait to start mowing! I won't buy a used mower like a used car. The issue is even though I took care of my mower, after 250 hours you have to baby it. It runs great, cuts great, but I know the in and outs to that mower and I know when something isn't right. The next guy didn't earn the hours and he may not treat it right and may not even know when something is off. I will sell the 127s for probably between $2k and $2.5k, but I may even keep it as a secondary mower.

I have a 2017 hustler raptor 54 inch with a Koehler engine. Not my first choice in engines. But, to be fair, it’s held up good. I change the oil very mowing season (once a year) but check it regularly during the year. So far, it’s still kickin and I think I’m around 300 hours. I mow my place and a few lawns on the side for extra money. The deck is solid. I don’t try to tear it up but absolutely don’t baby it. I accidentally ram stuff all the time. lol So far, so good. I did have a starter go out on it that the dealer replaced. That’s the only non maintenance part I’ve had to replace that I can think of. One thing I don’t care for is that it’s never been good at discharging the clippings. If there is any dampness at all, it constantly clogs. Even with the plastic clipping ejector “protector” or whatever it’s called, opened permanently. Still clogs. So I have to keep a stick with me to jab the grass out. Doesn’t matter if it’s new blades or anything. Slow mow or paced. That’s the one thing that has me looking at John Deere or Scag. Deere is more in my price range of around 4-5 grand for a solid 54 incher with a 20+ horse engine. Preferably Kawasaki. Good warranty too, though not as long as some of the hustler line.

My lawn is fairly flat, maybe a dozen trees and 1.5 acres or so. I live in a fairly rural area but there's an Ariens dealer about a mile from me out in the middle of nowhere too. Been considering an Ariens Ikon in either the 42" or 48" cut. I currently have an old style lawn tractor I've had for 14 years now and it's up to 419 hours on its meter. It's a 20hp, 46" cut Poulan Pro PB20HY64T I bought new in 2010 from Western Auto. That store closed a few years ago, but the mower just keeps on going, but I do regular maintenance on the old girl. Should be able to squeeze another season or two out of her barring anything catostrophic like, say, the old hydro crapping out or the Intek's cam doing what they like to do. Not really interested in flying across the yard, but I do like the maneuverability of the zero turns around trees, bushes, mailbox, etc. that my old rider just can't match.

I've owned a lawn care business for over 10 years and have owned and driven many different brands over the years. The worst one by far was a 60" Dixie Chopper! #1, Once I got it home and read the manual believe it or not it said there is no warranty if it's used commercially. WTH! It was a gas hog. It had horrible traction. I had several other people try driving it, and not one of us could get it to drive in a straight line. After just 2 days I took it back to the dealer and told him I wanted to trade it in on a brand new Ferris that cost far more and he refused to take it back! Come to find out Dixie is going out of business because of poor business practices. I got lucky and traded it even for a Kubota 56" with just 12 hours on it with a private person.

Great question Andrew! If you are looking at the Rogue, Also look at the Altoz TRX 354. This mower will handle wet spots the best, in terms of not getting stuck, and not leaving ruts in your yard! Also if you are mowing all 5 acres of the property, a you'll be much happier with a rogue over a maverick. The rogue has a lot more power, speed, suspension, etc. I don't know what your yard looks like, but I don't think the maverick will be any better in terms of leaving less ruts. If you cant find a mower near you, give us a call at Tractor Bobs, we might be able to help you out.

Great video! Looking for a mower to upgrade my 30 year old John Deere 265 lawn tractor(43” deck). Want to be able to pull my plug aerator and because of that have been leaning toward models with the 2800 or 3100 HG drives due to serviceability and higher load ratings. I’m about 190 lb and the aerator goes roughly 250. I only cut just over .75 acres but need to do so roughly every 4 days and the terrain is hilly. Am I in the right ballpark with these requirements and say a 48-54” deck? I also might can another yard or two occasionally.
@TractorBobs
@TractorBobs 2 жыл бұрын
You are in the ballpark as far as cut width. Unless the hills are too steep for your current mower, a zero turn should be able to handle those hills just fine. The ZT Avenger is going to be the highest quality mower your probably need. With very wide tires it will ride smooth and handle hills better than other mowers of the same price. Otherwise. If you decide that is too much mower for you, Look at the Husqvarna Z200 or a Timecutter with a Kawasaki engine and fabricated deck.

@@BradTrotter88 Not with the amount of acreage you are mowing. If you had around 2.5-3 acres per week of mowing, then a Kawasaki engine might be a better choice. The main thing with the avenger is the 7 gauge cutting deck, super wide tires, and overall wide stance. plus you get entry level commercial grade transaxles, and the engine is a high end residential/entry level commercial engine.

All mower companies have both stamped and welded decks. Cleaning out by hand then spraying down the underside of a deck after each mowing session will keep a stamped deck in fine shape.
