These older barn/yard finds are a lot of fun to get going again. I've done up three early 80's Goldwing's. I did an 84 that had been literally driven into a farm machine shed, parked on a sheet of plywood and left for 19 years. Hooked up a battery and it turned over like it had been shut off an hour previous!! A bath and about 80 hours to clean, adjust, replace, blah blah blah, and it was ready for the road. Unfortunately it was too heavy and too high for my short 70+ old legs. I sold it for a reasonable profit and the new owner is on the road ever chance he gets.

Neat trousers, LoL. I'm 82yo and ridden British and Japanese bikes all my life since the mid 1950s including a time when i was a motorcycle Highway Cop here in New Zealand. The GoldWing was my dream bike, sadly i could never afford one. The closest i got was, i have owned at different times two 1986 Honda CB 750 F2 models complete with full fairing. I just loved those bikes, much more superior to any other bikes i had owned including British Patrol bikes i was privileged to ride during my Enforcement service. I followed this video with interest, you are truly a knowledgeable man. Robert

I bought a 1982 Goldwing Interstate from a wrecking yard for $175.00 last year. After a bath, a couple of tires and a battery. It looks beautiful, runs great and rides fine with the rear air shocks set to my short legs. My third Goldwing. Started with a 1984 1200, then a 2000 1500. Toured for about 15 years on them. You repair guys never fail to astonish me with your skill. When I first started riding a moped, it was only 50 cc two-stroke and I could decoke the head just by removing four bolts. Magneto ignition and lights. Easy, even for me. But this, at the other end of the scale, would scare me shirtless. On the other hand, I'm installing all the software I need on my new laptop. Smekám klobouk před tebou 😇 Takový klid při práci jsem dlouho neviděl. Sám když opravuji a to hlavně zahradní traktory , proklínám nahlas výrobce i sebe . Japonské motorky mám rád do roku výroby 2000 , dál už je vidět úspornost na úkor kvality .Miluji Suzuki motory ale i Honda má své super kousky , tohle je jeden z nich. Just shows what the panels hide. It looks very busy under there. I thought of buying one about 20 years ago. It could never go back on the road as frame was broken an I would have liked to reframe it. Looking at the work under the panels, I am glad I didnt. I would still be trying to put it all back on another frame. lol.

How much did you spend to fix it up? I bought a 2008 Goldwing a couple years ago and spent around $500 in parts. It was pretty neglected and hadn’t run in two years. I probably saved $3000 in labor! Now I have to figure out the problem with the reverse light blinking and the cruise control stopped working
@TheHomePros6221
@TheHomePros6221 Жыл бұрын
the reverse light blinking is just the switch that is by the reverse lever you should be able to bend the tab on the lever thing so it contacts the switch fully and so it presses the switch all the way in so it doesn’t blink
@TheHomePros6221
@TheHomePros6221 Жыл бұрын
cruise control is prob the switch bad on the handle bar or the vacuum solenoid or the diaphragm is bad we’re it hooks into the throttle cable

What a masterpiece of engineering in 1988. Woah! The Japanese were and are way way ahead of their time. They were never given credit earlier...branding them as cheap and plastic in the earlier years. My grand dad used to say. It's only now people are appreciating them. My dad and grand dad tell me Ferrari copied a lot of engineering of the Honda NSX on to their ferraris and never gave Honda the credit. Same thing with bikes too. The Italians and Germans copied a lot of the engineering and technology from bands like Honda, Maha, Zuki and Kawa.
