Here in Texas we run combination tags and that combines the weight of cab and trailer for a bigger gross. With that we’re able to tow a bigger trailer.

Great Great little truck. One very bad flaw although the wheelbase is too short for bed. When you are loaded and heading up a incline that extra weight behind the rear wheels will make this truck do a wheelie. That can become very dangerous . Longer wheelbase means this will not happen as much . Place ment of rear axle should be at least 60% minimum length of dump body. Just a thought about being safe.

My dream truck is probably a newer class 6 chevy. Being able to get 3-4 yards in the dump or towing a 20k trailer is all I need. anything over 4 yards is a waste of my time compared to just having the gravel pit deliver anyway. The nice part about my 3500 though is even with the dump bed I am able to insure it as non commercial(don't use it for business right now). 4500 and up you are going to have a fun time finding a place to insure it unless you register it as a farm truck.

For sure on the delivery. I can haul 5 ton. Anything more just get it delivered. Class 6 are a waste of money. Unless you have a 308 or something

Nice video on this! New subscriber here. I purchased a 1975 John Deere 310 and I have to move it back to North East Ohio 472 miles from Eastern PA. I have been looking at buying a F450 dump truck to bring it back home On a Sunday AM. The backhoe weighs 12,750 lbs. I thought even a F350 was enough but I see you are saying a F-650 is required?

Technically a 16,000 rated trailer and a 10,000 gvwr F250 would be legal. Your going to want a diesel engine and really good brakes on the trailer and truck. A gooseneck would also help but isn't mandatory. Load the trailer with just a little tough weight but not squatting the truck

DOT guys are basically lazy , and like to be at Home at night so they can play with mama ! Start and finish your trip before the sun comes UP and buy fuel at small service stations rather than large truck stops . DOT's hang out at large truck stops cause they just ride around and issue violations instead on working on the side of a large highway !
@john_linder
@john_linder 2 жыл бұрын
You have to register as a combination anytime the trailer is anything 10,001 pounds or over. Even if it’s an F150 with a trailer rated at 10,001 lbs.

Is that if your a business? I know any truck over 10,000 with company decals needs registration. I run all black and white. I'm just a homeowner
@4.0gpa44
@4.0gpa44 2 жыл бұрын
@@precisionfilms3777 If you're a homeowner you never need a CDL. Cdl is only needed for commercial use. You could drive a semi truck legally without a CDL if you drove it for personal use only and could manage to find an insurance company that would insure a driver of a truck that big without a cdl. If you use it commercially you need DOT numbers if the combined weight ratings are above 10k, which nearly all truck trailer combinations are. Contrary to what most think, for commercial use, you can actually legally have an under-cdl truck trailer combination with a combined weight of 36,000k if the truck is at 26,000 and the trailer is 10,000, without needing a CDL. If you can't keep the total registered weight under 26,000, then you're limited to a 10,000 pound trailer. And you can never exceed 26,000 rating on the truck without requiring a CDL, unless you use it exclusively for personal or farm use.
@midstatelandsolutionsllc1515
@midstatelandsolutionsllc1515 Жыл бұрын
@@4.0gpa44 don’t confuse CDL with drivers license classes. You must have the right drivers license class for the vehicles you are going to drive. CDL or NON CDL, someone with a class D license can’t just jump into a farm use semi tractor/trailer and drive it legally.
@spar1993
@spar1993 Жыл бұрын
@@midstatelandsolutionsllc1515 that is literally the exact opposite of reality. You can right now. Go buy a truck with a gvw of 33,000gvw go pull a trailer with a 16,000gvw and if you're not for hire. Not using it to make money. It is your personal or recreational vehicle. You can legally drive it without a cdl. It's when it is used for business. That is its reason to exist with you. Then you need a cdl...

The cab corners and rockers have been redone. It's not quite as clean as it looks unfortunately. I have owned it 3 or 4 years now and park it every winter. It probably has 4:10 gears. You CAN tow a bobcat. What you have to do is buy a trailer with 10k gvw and DERETE it to 8500 lbs. and if you get pulled over and they weight you truck it’s about 10k empty trailer it’s about 3500 lbs and bobcat about 8k so your 21,500 have plenty of room even if something is heavier than what I mentioned

I have the same kind of dump truck i use for work. Mine is used on the daily, hauling fire wood in the late fall, winter, and early spring. Since i live in northern Minnesota, people who burn wood for heat instead of using propane go through alot of fire wood during those season's. I can fit a cord and a half of fire wood cut and split in the back of mine.
