Buying a TON of LEGO from IKEA!

Today I went to IKEA and bought a bunch of LEGO! Did I overd do it? Yes, most likely... but The discounted price was unbeatable so I had to do it! In addition to buying a bunch of LEGO sets, I also decided it was time to make a LEGO room upgrade!

I’m surprised IKEA hasn’t made table tops specifically for the LEGO community, say exactly 3x7 33x32 baseplates in size. They’d fly off the shelves!

They have one for kids. The Ikea Dundra table fits 4.5 x 2 baseplates perfectly. But I agree with you on the potential for a big Lego table for adults.

These IKEA Lego boxes are perfect for winter village landscaping. Only think I think is a huge miss, is the cover sit just loosely on top. So when used as storage boxes, you really have to be careful picking them up.

Hate to mention, but you COULD now try to rebuild either/both the observatory and Ninjago mountain using the IKEA boxes. Just think about how many parts you'd get back for your inventory.

You can often find kilo's of used Duplo for a few bucks which is much cheaper for landscaping.

You could even use one as landscape/ pond by opening the drawer, or a pool with a deck. Lots of cool possibilities!

Just an idea for Shelf Lighting - You could add lights for 2-3 shelves (total) only adding lights in the really special sets!

Was the IKEA-specific Lego set also on sale? It is also named BYGGLEK. Not sure if it is priced well everywhere, but I bought some of those too, when I got a few of the BYGGLEK boxes, and the pieces seems to be quite good with a decent variety in both piece types and colors. There were also two generic mini-figs in each.

Meh, average price per piece still about 10ct. Nice as a starter gift for kids, but hardly a bargain.

You can use vinyl wrap on those tables. I use that stuff on a old counter top. Holds up very good while I build rc cars. I also use working mat or a cutting mat.

Congrats on the bargain, Bricksie! I have a colleague who put a veneer with a wood grain design of some sort on his Ikea table top when it became scratched. It wouldn't look as good as that sweet table top you got, but it's just a thought. Thanks for all the lovely content!

Sounds like my Ikea table. The veneer that came with it was so thin best measured in microns than millimetres. At some point I'll sand what's left and put a decent veneer on top instead.

what you may want to think about is to use either a gloss or matt varnish with 2-3 coats using a roller. That way it would protect against scratches/marks and its a cheaper option

Late to the party but I have the IKEA sit/stand desk, and if you unscrew the round plastic feet, you can slot regular wheels into the holes to move it about.

I just went to Ontario for work a lot colder then the weather here in Malaysia. I liked Tim Houstons sausage, egg and bacon muffins and the cream filled dounut a nice breakfast if your on the run.
