I find it so sad that the precious memories someone has so carefully saved from their childhood will never be passed on to their family. Sometimes there is no family, so I wonder why we save these things. I have so many things that are precious to me but no one to leave them to. Sad. 😢

Hello! I love this locker! The old book titled Robinson Crusoe, was written by British author Daniel Defoe and was first published in 1719. I doubt very much it's a first edition but it certainly looks old! Also a pretty good book to read!

You should both be kind of embarrassed if you've never heard of Robinson Crusoe before. No judgement if you haven't read it, but if you don't even recognize the name, your school system has epically failed you.

Just a note for your future units. Hats and gloves especially the white ones were wore in the 1950's. You always wore hats and gloves and there was glove etiquette what length to wear at certain times a day. Lots of rules for hats and gloves.

The Duck items will be hot sellers. I lived in Eugene area for twenty years. I have all of my parents slides. They were hikers and back packers, and Dad took wonderful slides. Hundred hundreds of slides. I loved watching you two go through this locker. Much fun.

Lot of older people would get gifts like beautiful nightgowns and sweaters and things and they would wrap them in tissue paper and store them away because they were too good to wear. Then they would wear their old ratty cotton sweaters with the holes in the sleeves and their tattered underwear. When my mother-in-law died she had beautiful lingerie stored in her dresser drawer wrapped in tissue paper.

Oil cans did not, usually, get the whole top opened by a can opener. They were opened by a oil can punch that had an attached pour spout, or by a can punch, which was used with a funnel. If you were good you could punch the hole and aim for the engine oil spout. Cans were changed starting in 1985 to plastic bottles.

The homemade looking ornaments were probably made out of “bread dough” a kind of modeling “clay” that was made from mostly flour and something else to bind it…I can’t remember the binder. A varnish of some sort, maybe egg whites? was used to seal it all. Bread Dough modeling clay was very popular in the 80s. There were lots of people making their own and you could buy it from gift shops and such.

The oil cans can be opened up by a triangular can opener like you used for evaporated milk. The garage would have a thing that they pushed into the can and it had a spout on it and they would just pour the oil in from the spout to your oil reservoir in the car.

Can you sometime on many of your video, record on the way to locker, as well as your return home? Not the entire route, cuz we all want to know where you guys live!!! It is nice to see other parts of the country side/city side of where people enjoy living. My two daughter and I would fly out to Vancouver for a couple weeks every Summer when they were in mid elementary up to senior high school. My cousin had a boy and a girl around my two daughters ages. We started out our camping trips by staying out at Mount St. Helen on an island you could only get to it was by boat!!! We had the same campsite each year!! Could see the bottom of the lake and Kord and I guessed it was about 40 ft deep. There was a long rope tied around a big huge tree and the kids took turns all day long by swinging off of it!!! Such an awesome place. This all happened before it ruptured. But we saw a whole lot of Washington, Expo in Vancouver BC, and the Northern part of Oregon. You guys are sooooo lucky to live out there!!! I want to wish your whole family an exciting Christmas celebrating Jesuss birthday with family and friends!! Stay Safe!!! I Love it when the Wife is there help you Wade! I just can't remember her name!! I still like you Grandma Venture!! I really lie both of you!!!! Stay Warm!!!! 🤗🤗❄️☃️🎅🏼♥️⛄️🤓

If you were around in the 70s, you will recognize the items - Realistic, inexpensive Radio Shack receiver, Robert Bruce, low-end brand sold in discount stores, Benrus, the moderately-price watch for the middle class. And if you have been around even longer, you will remember Robinson Crusoe was first published in 1719 , making it unlikely you will find a first edition. Those oil cans might be collectible - motor oil tins are highly sought, but they are looking for really old ones. You don't open them with a can opener, they had spouts with a punch at the bottom end - you could Google it. You jabbed the spout into the can and poured the oil that way.

Those oil cans would be open with a can opener that would attach to can; press into top of can and leave a "V" type opening - then you would use a funnel to be sure that oil would go into car without spillage. You would NEVER use a can opener that we see these days that would "circle" the top and open entire top of can. - As for the STAMPS you found - I saw COLLECTOR STAMPS and assessories (books and stuff) - If you sell them in a lot, be sure you have 1. checked out the value of them so you know the VALUE you are "selling". Then there are POSTAGE STAMPS - that you could literally still use to mail a letter etc, - Postage today is ABOUT 60 cents - So you could pick out various postage stamps you have to add up to 60 cents and put them on the envelope and mail it at the Post Office or mailbox. So once again, even with THOSE stamps, add up the VALUE on each of the stamps and know hat you are selling (value) for whatever price you set. "CURRENT DAY" stamps are USEFUL - the older stamps (collectors want) are Valuable for a Collector - but price needs to be checked out through a stamp collector "expert/shop". - Be sure you know what you are selling and what value they hold.

Hey the S&H green stamps was once used to order things from their catalog instead of cash. I licked many stamps for my mom ti fill the books. I would say someone would like to get them. The company went out of business.

You guys have a lot of good stuffs for all seasons. Nowadays, you can't find many of such rare items in the market. I love collectibles, limited editions and vintage items. I used to collect stamps when I was young, and many of those stamps now worth hundred to thousand of dollars. Do research before you start auctioning them.

Its called a dynomo, in the box with the lamp. The little wheel goes on to the wheel rim of a bicycle or motorcycle and powers the lamp. I used to have one in the mid 70s. Was the Peanuts character called Lynus who played the piano?

The head light is for a bicycle. The other part attaches near the tire. As the tire moves the generator spins generating electricity and the head light comes on.

Noticed what looked like a fountain pen...you might check into that. It seems some folks collect old fountain pens. Alex on Curiosity, Inc seems to know about them.
