Buying an Excavator Sight Unseen and a few other surprises!

This is my experience of buying a Bobcat 442 excavator, without first seeing it in person. Did I get screwed? Only time will tell!
I also picked up a few other fun items while I was getting things from the auction.

Your hydraulic alarm is your main pump is probably out and needs rebuilt

Your swivel needs rebuild $620 for parts that will fix the blade and stuff

Turns out it was even simpler! It had a switch to put the blade into “float” mode. All of the labeling is rubbed off the switches and while reading through the manual I learned about it. Next day I went up and switched it off and the blade holds now! Have you done a swivel rebuild? Seems like a scary thing.

@@MakersAcres I have a 430 Bobcat mini excavator I rebuilt my swivel end the hydraulic cylinders watch a couple videos you can do it just make sure to Mark every single line with different colored zip ties take pictures

I think you got a decent deal. I’d bet the blade issue is a bad cylinder and the oil alarm is a filter or sensor.

I later found out that the blade has a “float” mode switch. As soon as I turned that off the blade would stay!

greta vid bud. Machine is beat up though. I don't think that hr meter is accurate. I would've paid abit more for something in better shape or pay a lot less for that machine. My guess all the bidders online were sight unseen as well.

Thank you! Ya, I struggled with that too, but when I look at the hoses on the boom, they have a date code back to the original build date, but they are now cracking and almost look new. So I don’t know. Someone could have been really hard and done little to no maintenance on this thing. I’ll know more as I dive into it.
