Today we are attempting something very stupid. We are going to be buying every cucumber on the steam market for profit!! I know how why and what is going on. Well let me explain. Items can be bought and sold on the steam market these range from weapon skins in csgo to just anime emotes and trading cards. Some of these items on the marketplace can range from £0.03 to thousands of dollars. Today I am attempting some cheeky price manipulation shenanigans as we purchase as many cucumber emotes from the marketplace as possible to artificially inflate the price and then try to sell them at a profit. Now the cucumber will be starting today being worth just 3p but we will be driving it all the way up to £10 using a simple investment. Ultimately this steam market exploit is not going to make you a millionaire but it might let you buy shower with your dad simulator for free. So watch as the spiffing brit exploits the steam summer sale to take advantage of temporarily lower prices to buy up the market supply of cucumbers for profit!
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. At the time of posting the video, he has effectively paid about £75 for stock that people won't pay more than £30 for.

I used to do something similar in WoW years ago. I cornered the market of the White Kitten vanity pet. Its sold by a randomly spawning patrolling npc in Stormwind city, who only ever carries one. The pet was uncommon enough to get naturally that people would pay about 100 gold on the auction house. Which back then was a good amount. I hung out chatting with my guild instead of actually playing the game enough that I would just run his patrol route and find him sometimes more than once a day. I developed a surplus stock in my bank, only posting one for sale at a time and instantly buying anyone out who under cut me. And that’s how I afforded anything I ever wanted in game by becoming a corrupt kitten trader

@@MultiGamerClub The only reason Bill's hat and earbuds are on market for $6 and $10 each (Traders would want you to believe $20 or the mythical $50) is because of manipulation. Both were one time free promo items. Bills hat for owning left 4 dead and the ear buds for playing TF2 on a Mac. (There is the belief that those 2 were "safe tokens" in for expensive hat trading. But they stored value and fools got shafted when the hats could be sold on market.)

Well, value of anything depends on its rarity or availability in market. One of the reasons diamonds are expensive is because of that. Me and my brother did the same thing on the World of Warcraft realm that we were playing at the time. We bought all of certain materials of which we knew they were in demand for crafting and then flipped them and massively inflated prices. Sometimes at ten times what they were going for on average before we came along and utterly ruined it for everyone. It didn't matter to the buyers though because they would still purchase everything we put on the auction house. We would then move along to another material while the one we just ruined would stabilize and return to where it was. It was fun while it lasted. We quit WoW over 10 years ago now. But I have some pretty fond memories.

This lead to the flowers being worth more than their weight in gold. Tulip bulbs were so valuable that a black market popped up essentially overnight to sell them

It's a reference to 'tulip mania,' a sudden increase in tulip prices that occurred around the 1600's. It was further popularised by an advertisement for... I think an investment firm? Basically, tulip bulb prices skyrocketed (as in: competing with real estate prices) for, in hindsight, silly reasons, and it became a financial bubble that soon popped and went into historical infamy. As for the clogs, well, that's a pun on the 'laughing in' meme. It's usually represented as laughing in a certain language, then mutated into laughing in a concept as it were a language, but I only meant it as Dutch wearing clogs, since the stereotype of the tulip farming Dutch overlaps with that of the clog-wearer. But, that said: I'm Belgian, aka the punchline to the joke in five countries, so please believe when I say it's all in good fun. Always happy to help out our neighbours to the North. I'd say I'm always willing to lend a hand, but that's a phrase that raises a few eyebrows coming from us Belgians, so...

I love the fact that he paid nearly £90 for items that are worth about £2, sold one item for £10 and then decided that it means he made a profit, when in reality, he has 68 items left that are still worth a collective £2. It was good fun to watch but the only reason he was able to affect the price of the items was because he was overpaying for them himself (and then not selling them because they were overpriced)

When I first started buying items on steam, I realised that a number of items had the same seller. So I had a hunch that the market was being monopolised by some individuals. But this video actually proves it. 😂👍👍
