Buying EXPENSIVE AQUARIUM SUPPLIES For CHEAP From DOLLAR STORE!
In this video I buy a bunch of cheap fish tank aquarium supplies from the dollar store and save hundreds! Aquarium supplies are often regular items with just an added label "for aquariums", so instead of paying for example $100+ for an aquascaping tool kit, I spent $1! Some items of course do need to be purchased from aquarium stores, like rocks, gravel, or sand, but some are perfectly safe from here! Comment below your favorite item and thank you for watching!

these types of videos are why i like you and Ryo Watanabe so much more than other fishtubers. you both keep it at reasonable prices and tell us how much stuff costs. so many fish youtubers either buy or get sent stuff costing hundreds of dollars and then they tell you it's the best and you have to get it. or they fall into the trap of buying a million things and doing everything SUPER BIG to the point the rest of us can't hope to do anything close. fishkeeping does not need to cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. thank you for keeping your audience in mind.

Superglue works for attaching plants to things but I would recommend fishing line. Because with superglue, once it’s dry you will see the excess glue on the plant and it looks awkward to have a whitish-grayish bit of glue just in your tank.

Some rocks and stones from dollar stores are okay for fish tanks- provided you do the test before putting it in their tank. What's the test? In your bathroom sink (I've a houserule nothing of non-human consumption ever entered into my kitchen by any means- for any means) very lightly rinsed off stones the cold water quickly. Let them dry on a paper towel. Use a Q-tip and dab in household vinegar, then 'shake' the Q-tip over one rock (repeat Q-tip vinegar process for each Rock). you want to give a couple seconds and see what happens to the vinegar on each stone/rock- if it fizzes; it contains too much non-fish friendly stuff for a tank. The rocks that don't fizz are worthy of the tank, but should be soaked (in a container that has never had chemicals or soap) for 24 hours , water best at ice cold. Alternatively you can boil them for an hour or so, but sometimes they leak a smell in your house that's worse than anything lol

Very usefull video. 👍🏼 But I got a question... Does plants grow with this kind of lamp you showed? 🤔 For my 2 betta tanks I use Nicrew lights, and for my 22g planted tank I work with the Eheim 6500 lumen light. Fishkeeping hobby is expensive.... But it worth it. 😎
@RioCahyadiDrayka

I have used a bigger desk reading lamp than that (5 watt if i remember correctly) to try grow some floating plants, and it didn't end well 😅. I guess these kind of light have a lower kelvin than a plant needed to grow / thrive.

Not from the dollar store, but pea gravel from home depot is like three dollars and it comes in a huge bag so if you don't need all of it for aquascaping, you can scape your backyard with it by making a little pebble trail to walk on or put it under your hose nozzle to keep grass at bay. :) Super handy and all you have to do is rinse the rocks off beforehand to remove the mud and dirt from it.

do you have any idea what kind of metals the tweezers are instead of the expensive ones. cheaply made ones could have metallized alloys leaching out of them into the water and kill the fish if you don't do your research. obviously if in doing research you find that they're actually have for aquariums then that's a great find!

some plants, such as the ones you can find at petco, are fine with regular gravel. However, if you have heavy root feeders such as Cryptocoryne, they need root tabs or nutritious substrate.

I do weekly water changes (about 20%) on all 3 of my betta tanks. But i also have snails in my tanks, so if you're just going with a betta, they can go 3-4 weeks with no water change. 2 weeks is a good time to do a water change. Also if you just have a betta in a 10g, you could do just 10-15%
