Great info Nate, thank you for sharing. I always appreciate the word of honest people who actually put their hands on equipment. There are so many great choices out there but you were spot on stressing to shoot them all. From personal experience I would go even further and say shoot them all, but wait a week and shoot them all again. I have completely changed my mind and bought a different bow than the one I thought I was going to buy after going that route.

Great information ! I live where there are no bow shops, so dependability, easy DIY is a must. As well as a comfortable shooting bow. Still shooting my 2014 Elite 32 Energy. Might be time to sample what’s new in the industry.

Great video. Glad I found this. Was looking at the diamond edge 320 for my wife to get her into archery but I have heard a few things about the PSE stinger now and I think I may surprise her with that one. Will be good to hand off to the kids as they grow too. Might get one for myself as well or try another but will test some out and see. Thanks

I just got my first bow last week. Went to the pro shop New Beginnings Archery in Gettysburg, PA. I tried Bear and Elite while there. I ended up coming home with the Elite Basin RTS. I love how smooth it felt and the rock solid back wall like you stated. Hopefully I’ll get a deer with it this upcoming season!

Someone got their summertime shave 🪒 on. Thanks for going through different price point bows and what your experience is with them. I have thought about buying a new bow for a few years but I sadly haven’t taken a deer 🦌 with it since I got it back in 2006. 😔 I will wait at least one more season, I put a black gold sight and Hamskea Primer rest on it. I have to find a Pro Shop close to me in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia to truly try out some bows that are available in left hand. Thinking about getting my fiancé a Diamond 💎 Elite or G5 Quest in purple after we get married the 3rd week of August.

I bought a new Enkore last summer, and never been able to tune it, even with the SET technology. Always tought something was wrong with it, but after a trip to the dealer ended up selling it. Went with the V3 and really love my bow!! Easy to tune with the Top Hats system and shoot great. Only downside like you mentioned is module based cam, but with switch weights technology I can live with that. Also been mentioned that module based cam are better at keeping cams peak performance. Don’t know if it’s true😅! Keep up your good work Nate!!

It’s been many years since I’d shot one and I’m getting up in age (63) and my son had a Diamond he got off FB market for $150 and at 60# it was great I was rocking 🎯 at 20 yd (yes that’s close)but now I’ve got the itch to get back to it. I LOVE my Bowtech Solution I bought in March of 2021 for the DeadLock cams, I really liked the draw cycle and it’s a beautiful bow. But I’m debating on maybe in the spring trading it in on an Elite Enkore. Nothing wrong with my Bowtech but the features and warranty/hunt guarantee from Elite really peaked my interest. Might have to take the shootability challenge

I bought a Bowtech Amplify in January and have been very with it happy. First New bow ever, and also first time I robin hooded an arrow. Have to point shoot now as almost guaranteed to have arrows hit each other if I make decent shots. Will have to say Manufactures didn't make it easy. Shot the PSE Drive and Hoyt Torrex also. Both were great but that limb stop on BowTech is what sold me back wall is just amazingly rock sold. Also it had a extra 100 dollar package that the shop had which had a drop away and nice quiver. Sight was kind of sad though but changed it out with a Trophy Ridge 5 pin and been shooting great.

Long time Bear owner (20+yrs), 1st time Elite owner. Had my Domain for 7 years, decided it was time for an upgrade. Went to a new shop in my area and shot the mid priced range ($600-$750) bows. Bowtech Amplify, PSE Drive NXT, Bear Whitetail Legend Pro, Hoyt Torrex & Elite Terrain. The Bear and Hoyt went back on the rack after 2 sets of 3, too much vibration after the shot and the draw cycles were a bit harsh on the Hoyt. The Amplify was a surprise as it was the cheapest of the 3 I had left to decide from and honestly felt really nice overall, I almost left with it. The PSE seemed way faster than advertised, was reasonably smooth, good back wall, was nice.....but the Elite edged it out. The Terrain & Amplify both felt great to me but that draw cycle on the Elite was butter like, the bow was light, and it just felt better to me in the end. The shop I went to, Outdoor Insiders in Gibson PA was fantastic. They setup all the bows to my DL and just let me shoot. When I had questions and wanted opinions they were right there for me. After 100+ shots the OD Green Terrain went home with me. The more I shoot it the more I like it. I couldve taken either of the last 3 home and been happy overall, but wow.....that Elite is a nice shooting bow (I'd still like to play with the other ones for fun). I watched your video and took your advice about shooting everything in my range, thank you. Next will be a flagship bow for me, Im interested in the differences overall.

If you want to see your bow on all the hunting channels and see it advertised everywhere you shoot Mathews. If you’ve shot a number of bows from each company you come to realize that they’re all making pretty much the same/great bows. Once limbs went parallel and the cable guides got revamped there hasn’t been much more to do to a compound bow - the technology plateaued about 10 years for the most part. They’re just changing axle to axle, brace height, specs etc. every year now to give us a reason to “need” a new bow.

The dog pecker gnats are so bad here in southeast Missouri that it makes shooting a challenge. In about 5 minutes, you will be running for some cover. And as for the back wall, I prefer the cable stop over the limb stop. The cable stop is like a stiff spring that pushes back against the archer giving some feedback on how much load they are creating. The ultra-hard limb stop wall doesn't allow for feedback and can be problematic to archers who are learning back tension and pulling into the wall. They can unknowingly overload on a really hard wall. Even though the hard limb stop may initially feel better, it doesn't mean it gives better shooting results. But that is something that the archer needs to search out and find for themselves.

I wondering what u think about the new Inline series of bows w/o the parallel cam system? Perhaps the 7 different parts that make up the strings & cables has tainted shops & the people working on them. The Nexus 4 has a much smoother draw cycle than the CT-5 from just 2 years ago. I expect the Inline will get more interst but what will draw the interest when they made something similar to everyone else with the cable falling in the same line as the string as u come to full draw?

I totally understand the aspect of wanting a rotating mod as a service tech, but from a buyers perspective a mathews can be adjusted weight wise in 5 pound increments and still be at prime efficiency... lots of people don't realize when you back out limb bolts to lower poundage you lose efficiency on the bow. With mathews mods you set draw length and draw weight simultaneously, all while keeping limb bolts locked down. That was a big plus to me and why i chose the vxr over other flagship. Most flagship are similar in shootability these days. I have 3 sets of mods for my bow depending on what poundage I want to shoot 65, 70 and 75. P.s. swapping the mods are super simple, no bow press needed. 2 screws
@averagejackarchery
@averagejackarchery 3 жыл бұрын
I see the angle. Just some background and clarity though... 1. The "bow is only efficient when maxed out" is a long forgotten time. Bow of today have locked limbs, pockets, and much better tolerances on shims and axles. The limb bolts used to carry 100% of the load. Now it's carried across more pieces. Still majorly by the limb bolt. 2. Switch weight is just a fancy term for "underutilized limbs". If a bow peaks at 70, but you switch weight it to 60, the limbs are just being put under a difference force curve that limits flex and powerstroke. It's literally no different than taking a 70 pounder and winding the limbs back to 60. Still, I see the appeal I guess. But, like most bow companies, it's a pile of marketing more than magic dust.

@@averagejackarchery appreciate the feed back , in no way do I claim to be an expert.. only speaking from my short experience (3 years) but I have had other bows that when lowering poundage I would have to basically retune the bow. And with the vxr I honestly have not had to do that once after switching weights. To me that is a big part of the efficiency aspect. Only thing needed is to adjust sights (obviously)

My buddies who are big into archery said it was a decent first bow, but you said women and kids...damn it...lol. Just getting started I'm gonna need more stuff and I always prefer local (in the same state) shops as opposed to online or major chains. As always, great video!!!

Whats your opinion on Quest bows? I really like the smooth draw and the accuracy of these bows. I've had Diamond and Matthews as well and just gravitate back to Quest. I shoot them really well for shooting right handed and being blind in my right eye, no peep sight, with a Bowmar nose button. I have both the Amp and Thrive.

Quest gets ZERO hype and I think it's a crying shame. Their single cam Forge they made (maybe still do?) was a favorite of mine for a mid-priced budget bow. Their Amp and Thrive with the binary cam system also didn't get much love, perhaps due to their module swaps instead of rotating. Otherwise, G5 did some good stuff with the Quest lineup.

Great perspective and points to ponder, really appreciate it! My new Solution cracked a limb in less than 1 month, and needless to say, it's put a cloud over my thoughts of Bowtech. My SR6 has been flawless for 2 1/2 years, my Fanatic 3.0 same. But the current "dragging their heels" getting new limbs shipped has really dampened my enthusiasm, especially in light that this was to be my new primary for elk in WY this fall, and the clock is ticking on getting it set up, tuned and familiarity. Have you had any recent dealings with them for warranty work? Really hoping this is a one time occurrence and it'll pass. If not,,,,,,,,,,,,,

EVERY manufacturer is still reeling and backlogged from Covid supply and trying to meet summer demand of current 2021 models. It's a mess. We're just now getting orders of full bows we applied for back in March. It's insane. It seems trivial for them to just put limbs In a box, but every builder right now is a dumpster fire.

Love your content and supported your new archery shop venture. Off topic, but that cover over your AC unit is actually hurting your system. It’s causing the air from the condenser fan to get pushed back into the unit (it’s accentually recirculating that air) . Especially during cooling. I think you will find the unit doesn’t run as much during those hot days if you would remove the cover.

The unit has been with the house since the late 90s to early 2000s. It's one dinosaur of a mini split system that cools the living room. Thankfully we don't need to run it all that much as the house is quite small and ceiling fans often do the trick. But thanks!
