What's to question? Asked about scariest moment and his answer either meant there were no scary moments or the scariest moment was thinking they may not get to go. If you trained for years to go, only to have it called off would be a scary thought

Because it's not weird, it's him saying that they'd trained so hard for so many eventualities that fear wasn't part of the equation. They were test pilots, they already knew fear would kill them faster than most malfunctions.
@DeadEyeJedi
@DeadEyeJedi Жыл бұрын
@@tonykunkerino4087 As I said, they were test pilots, they knew that the minute they started feeling fear, it could lead to panic, and panic achieves nothing. Like pilots who will, despite being terrified, continue reporting for the black-box as a plane is crashing in the hope the information will prove useful, that rule applies _twice_ as hard as test pilots, test pilots are literally chosen on their ability to not panic or get scared in tense situations, that's actually part of the requirements for _being_ a test pilot in the first place. So, yes, it's perfectly normal for Buzz Aldrin to say that 'being scared' didn't happen, that's why he was chosen to go. And I see that good old 'I don't care whether we landed on the Moon but [insert textbook Moon Hoaxer argument here]' is raising its head again. Yes, strangely enough, technology developed in 1969 is out of date and not much use, in fact, our computing and heat-resistance technology is decades ahead of Apollo, because it's been decades since Apollo and we learned a lot from the technology, but there was no point hanging on to the manufacturing facilities for stuff that was out of date.
@DeadEyeJedi
@DeadEyeJedi Жыл бұрын
@@tonykunkerino4087 Your initial mistake is assigning the name 'handler' to the person with Buzz Aldrin, it already shows that you have assumed what their role is based on your bias. Secondly, they asked if he was scared, not if he felt 'fear', there is a difference between the two. He wasn't scared, even when he felt the adrenaline of fear, for the third time that was one of the criteria he had to meet in order to qualify for the astronaut program. He even at the end of his explanation says that, had the engines not fired it _could_ have been scary, but the situation never arose, so he wasn't scared, why worry about what _didn't_ happen? The comment you are referring to wasn't said by 'one of the heads of NASA', it was by Don Petit, an astronaut, and, once again, he is correct, until recently we did not have the equipment to return to the Moon with people, the original Apollo missions were about reaching the moon, there wasn't much interest in doing anything else until we recently started developing technology that could possibly make use of the Moon's resources, now the Artemis program etc. is looking at going back. I'm sorry to hear that me daring to respond to your accusations of me being a troll is so horribly inconvenient for you, I'm sure you'd much prefer it if people didn't defend themselves...
@DeadEyeJedi
@DeadEyeJedi Жыл бұрын
@@tonykunkerino4087 And you claimed that fear _had_ to be part of the equation, which is doesn't, that's what the training is for, to remove fear from the equation so you can do your job. I paraphrased what was said, stuff happened that could have been scary, but it didn't happen, everything worked at they took off just fine. And thanks for proving my point.

@@thegoodshepherd8212 Not really, it's more a case of Hoaxers taking ONE sentence out of an entire conversation and then presenting it in a way that looks incriminating. It's not at all that he's 'admitted it', in fact, he punched Bart Sibrel in the face for calling him a liar, which was well deserved. It's like when he had an interview with a little girl, the Moon Hoaxers showed an edited version of the interview in order to change the context of what he said and tried to claim he had 'admitted' then as well when he was clearly saying that we didn't go _back_ to the Moon after the Apollo missions.

@@in.different He was asked a question and he answered it, clearly and with a conclusion to the situation stated at the end of the story of how they were concerned the circuit breaker would not work but everything turned out ok. He was asked what was scary, he said that fear 'didn't happen'. I'll just say, these men were test-pilots they know fear will kill you faster than anything else, they are trained to ignore it. Someone reminded him of a situation with a circuit breaker that could have caused a scary situation, and he told that story. If you had watched the WHOLE video, you would know this, but you didn't. Probably because you were busy masturbating over the fact he said 'it didn't happen' and were too happy _assuming_ what it meant, rather than listening to the story and _understanding_ what it meant.

First question from the audience: How did you feel when you landed on the moon and looked back at the Earth. No answer. Instead he talked about his wives. WTF. Zero technical discussion about getting through the thermosphere. Zero discussion about how the moon feels when you walk on it. "The moon dust might be poisonous" he said ie we still don't know whether it is or not ? So zero tests have been done on the dust/rock that they bought back ? What was the scariest moment of the journey ? Answer: It wasn't scary. Circuit breakers and the ladder were the top topic for some bizarre reason along with swimming, pole-vaulting and meals he had with presidents. Should we go back to the moon with better technology? After no answer and rambling on he blamed the budget. Anyone who had been to the moon would have said yes we should go back immediately. Constantly trying to be funny instead of discussing the most amazing feat of mankind. If someone went to the moon they would actually talk about it rather than rambling on about absolute rubbish. If (big if) we went to the moon he did zero to prove it. Their first interview in 1969 after their return was also absolutely bizarre. Cheers Buzz we know everything about going to the moon now. Lol.

Good contribution and summary. Nothing really said from him, like a politician about the bush. If I had been on the moon, wow incredible feelings of being proud and overwhelmed about the extraordinairy experiences. But what is: He talks like he has been on a stage with grey dust in a studio with backdrops in the background making a video of 2,5 Hours lenght. And they were in the orbit of the earth for a few days, that is the feat. They have no idea about what the universe, the moon, the planets and stars really means, particulary Buzz Aldrin seems to be totally unaware and clueless about these subjects, he has no relation regarding these topics, like an ignorant.

First off - - Buzz never answered this to any question Second - - even if he did, apparently to you idiots, he is a valid source when he says something that fits your world view, and a liar when he contradicts it. @dharmaqueen7877 You are providing an example of the very thing I am talking about. If you want to dismiss his claims, that's great. That's not what uou are doing. You are dismissing his claims which contradict the narrative you choose to accept, and accepting the claims which are in line. If you were consistent, you'd dismiss this claim as you interpret it just the same. But you don't. The quality of the source has nothing to do with the source; only the claim. It's a worthless methodology. You're also vastly misunderstanding his quote, but context clearly isn't important to you. If Buzz had first claimed that he never landed on the moon, and THEN claimed he did, you wouldn't dismiss the original claim. His words have nothing to do with what you choose to accept. You're just cherry picking anything that conforms to your world view and dismissing everything else. It's just the standard modus operandi for people like you. Nothing new here....

Those men are extremely intelligent and were trying to explain complicated matters. I understand why it’s hard to believe, it took a series of miracles, hard work, extreme intelligence, and collective teamwork. It’s no small task to undertake, but I firmly believe we went to the moon. I just don’t see why we would fake it when there were many other ways we could have proven our superiority. As I am writing this comment, Artemis 1 is currently orbiting the moon, testing and paving the way for the next series of moon missions, set to establish a permanent presence on the moon and eventually to Mars.

It was a perfect response.. its truth in plain sight for the intelligent to pick up on, but it also serves as a normal answer for the sleepers.. it can be interpreted both ways. The real answer is that he's saying we never went in the first place, but it can also be interpreted as him saying that scary moment never happened. It was indeed a clever response that hits both sides. He's ambiguous for a reason because he's hiding something. Its his way of vindicating himself and trying to rinse the guilt away while not being too obvious about it as that would get him in trouble and would more than likely cost him his life.

@@langleybeliever7789 What good would that have done? Sibrel simply accused the person of blasphemy for lying on the bible. All of the astronauts knew that. So when Sibrel got him to a hotel for an interview based on false pretenses, Aldrin simply refused. Instead of backing off, Sibrel kept harassing and ultimately cornered him. So Aldrin decked him.

Up to 21:57 Buzz is entertaining. At 21:58 he ventures into the realm of lunacy to suggest such a thing. At 1:04:15 are they all clapping because he is finished speaking, or were they truly entertained and enlightened? Why no one asked him about the strange things he observed in space is a disappointment. He, like many fellow astronauts, are on record as having observed strange, unexplained, unknown flying objects in space and it'd have been interesting to ask him about these incidents

Yes, the whole thing had been planned out and so when they asked him what was the scariest part, his reply was 'it didn't happen', in other words, he didn't get scared because he had rehearsed it so often. Why do people think that taking a 2 second statement completely out of context proves _anything_ ? Talk about twisting other people's words....

Buzz probably didn't think he would get so much skepticism from people upon his return from the moon. That was surprising I'm sure. Over the years he has learned to take it in stride. People being what they are, there was going to be envy, jealousy, and the like. I personally hang on his every word. How could you not? The first to land on the moon. Pretty much doing the impossible. He's been paid well over the year's for telling what it was like. But you have to give him credit. The mission filled us all with wonder and awe. He knew we wanted to hear about it. He felt a responsibility to share it with us being that he had a front row seat. Thats quite a burden to carry for an entire lifetime. We should all be grateful.

The PLSS weight 84 pounds on Earth, and the OPS added another 41 pounds. So they were carrying 125 extra pounds on their backs. Yes, at 1/6 gravity it only weighed about 21 pounds on the moon, but it still had the same mass. (about 57 kg) That is a lot to manage, especially as it throws off the center of gravity.
