I did not realize that the Queen's Guard carbine rifles are "bull pup" style firearms. Note that the magazine is behind the trigger and grip. Makes them extra short.

I like how Britain does armed weapons differently. The guns are wrapped around the sight and barrel as to show that they are armed but not to allow use of weapon without removing the safety wraps

I can totally understand guarding the queen but those outfits do not help in doing their job...big fluffy hats that are not only weird to move in they come down to block your eyesight. big overcoats, yeah it might be cold, but dam I can't see them being very agile at all.

Those are the ones for show, like the Vatican's Swiss Guards that you see. The ones doing the real protecting aren't dressed like that. They just use Napoleonic costumes to remind themselves that they used to be a big deal, just like British entertainment has to keep fighting Nazis.

@@TheDiffusionist Because they are protecting a figurehead. Those yearly proclamations are all boiler plate, there are no real powers of state. They are also wearing outdated uniforms that have no bearing in the real world. It's fine that you might feel otherwise. But the statement of the OP pretty much fills itself in.
