Bye Bye Qatar - Hello Boat Life! | Sailing the World ep. 10

We leave Qatar to start living on our Boat! From land life to life on the ocean. In this episode you see how we moved our stuff and ourselves from our comfortable but not so exciting life in Qatar, to an exciting life full of challenges on our 14 year old Sailing Catamaran called Roxy.
The first few weeks were full of jobs to do, see how we dealt with it in this video, episode 10 already of Sailing Around the World!

I must admit, some of our inspiration comes from Sailing La Vagabonde, Sailing Zatara, Sailing Holly Blue, and World Towning.. although we've been talking about sailing around the world for about 3 years now.. it suddenly is coming a lot closer, and fast!!

Congratulations that you moved away from Qatar and reached a sail boat. You are now onto a sail boat and also reached the boat before it became too late. You reached on to the sail boat well in time. You are a lucky father having a lucky wife and lucky children. I am happy with what you are doing. I am very proud of you and so proud that you are a good family

Oh yes it was a bit hectic! Lots of things to sort out! And a bit of time pressure to get out of that marina where the contract finished end of July. All quite overwhelming but we kind of expected that too ;-) Here we are in Turkey now, getting ourselves and the boat more ready for big adventures 😃 We're excited!!

Hi reiniar , i have one suggestion for you, that while in future you might sail to different places, i suggested you keep a bird as a pet & if possible a a small aquarium for the kids to entertain!!!!...

Oooh a bird as a pet? That would be interesting! =) Aquarium, we hope that that's what we will find all around us soon! Lots of fish to discover and admire I hope! We have actually thought of getting a little doggy. One that is cuddly, a lap kind of dog that likes to sit cuddle and sleep, and doesn't need to walk so much. But you know the logistics of sailing with a dog... it adds quite a lot of planning and cost to the journey! So for now we will just enjoy the animals that we hopefully will come across by chance! 😃

I know!! Even to us it's a bit surreal still! But we are here doing it 😃 We did a bit of sailing so far which will come in the next videos and yea we all felt a bit funny at times to say the least! I think even that is all part of it, and hopefully will get better with time!! We gave our pool to friends in Qatar :) We enjoyed it lots but it was too much to bring to the boat 😜 Thanks so much for following along, we'll keep sharing our adventure for sure!! 🤩🤩

Reinier and also the boat looks very good and nice. It looks that you did a lot of job and had a very tough time leaving Qatar. And you had a very difficult time leaving the place and you might be missing Qatar? Are you missing Qatar a lot or are you happy to leave Qatar and move onto a Roxy sailing boat?

Hi Amit! Well yes it was a stressful time! There was so many things to think of and to arrange. And time pressure with it as well. And a lot of start-up cost also for the boat. But it's all worth it we are now getting more and more settled every day which feels really really good!! 😃

Reinier did you come from Al Wakra house to Hamad International Airport with a lady car driver as I saw in the video you came with a lady driver who was seating behind you in a car. Reinier and also did you hire 2 taxis for coming to Hamad International Airport?

Hi Amit that is correct, our neighbour was really kind and drove us there. We also arranged for another taxi to bring some more of our luggage. We have nice matresses that we were able to bring along. Very happy to have those here for good night's sleep!
