Bye Bye, VW Bus: Last video of iconic Kombi on assembly line as Brazil factory closes

Production of the iconic Volkswagen (VW) Kombi van will cease at the end of the year, car manufacturer Volkswagen announced on Monday.
Brazil is the only country in the world still producing the iconic vehicle.
New safety regulations mandate that every vehicle in Brazil must have air bags and anti-lock braking systems starting in 2014, and the company said it cannot change production to meet the law.
While the output will stop in the Latin American country, there should be plenty of VW vans rolling along for decades if only because there are so many and they are very durable.

Issa 91 it was the law change. VW could have made them meet the requirements but VW is VW so they discontinued it.

They're not making any more VW Buses because Brazil tightened it's pollution laws. Apparently a bus that gets 20+mpg/32km+mpg (US Gallons) [Depends on how you drive] but alas, the end of the old school transporter has ceased. :(

actually not, since it runs on ethanol fueled modern engines. the emissions isn't an issue, the problem is a law that turns mandatory for 2014+ cars to have ABS and airbags.... the ABS wasn't a problem, brazilian VW was developing a system to put in the Bus at the tme, but the airbag was a problem.... if wasn't this law, we would still have brand new 2016 VW Buses rolling of the production line in São Paulo...
