He plays the most of the time as a safety but I heard he might switch to the CB next season. In 2 years, he managed to get only 1 INT (2016) He's not playing as good as we could expected watching his combine but his athleticism helps him making some decent plays once a while. I hope he will progress and mature because he obviously has great potential.

If the broad jump is measured from the back of the heel then why do you have to toe the line? Two athletes same height and same explosiveness but with different foot sizes would get different numbers right? 🤔

I think the theory is that broad jump is how much you can jump over or clear, so if there was a 12 foot 3 inch puddle, he could jump over it completely. Yours definitely makes more sense imo.

actually, considering who was the QB, Wilson, it isn't unreal. Wilson is too short and cant see the field, which results in missed open wr's, and a forced roll out's to one side of the field. when asked to operate inside the pocket like that pass, those are the results that usually will happen. eli manning knows all about interceptions and riding coattails to superbowls

40 Yard dash- 4.36 Broad Jump- 12,3 Vertical- 44 1/2
@joedagg4495
@joedagg4495 6 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but these vertec measuring Vertical jumps are bullshit. A 44-1/2 vertical would mean his foot would have to be well above his belly button. And if you put a mark on where his belly is initially his feet don't come close to his belly button. Probably more realistically a 39inch, which is still remarkable I once got measured a 33inch vert in high school on a vertec. And I'm a long distance runner... More like 25inch realistically.
@joedagg4495
@joedagg4495 3 жыл бұрын
@Wait What? 2 things that make the vertec inaccurate: 1. You can stretch you body to a longer length in mid air then at the beggnning. By definition you’re adding extra inches by stretching not by the vertical jump height produced by lower body force. 2. Similar to (1.) at the extent of your reach you are on your toes. Which means you’re adding additional inches in height. To provide a scientifically accurate result, you would have to measure the height difference of the centre of mass. At least To make it more accurate you would start the initial measurement by the athlete on the tips of their toes reaching as high as they can. The 40 yard dash has similar issues of precision since the timer is started manually by human, where human reactions differ by ~0.25secs. So an NFL athletes 40yard dash is +0.1, 0.2 secs. So John Ross doesn’t necessarily have the fastest 40. These nfl test give an INDICATION, not a scientifically accurate result of the athletes abilities. Now tell me, what’s your data. How am I wrong?
@rodt9779
@rodt9779 2 жыл бұрын
@@joedagg4495 40 yard dash times are laser timed. Also from the tip toes is dumb. Center of mass at top and bottom flat footed should be fine
@joedagg4495
@joedagg4495 2 жыл бұрын
@@rodt9779 only the finish of a 40 yard is laser. The start is literally someone with a button. Do you really trust someone to start the timer accurate to 0.01 seconds?

@@rodt9779 for measurements to be deemed accurate to the decimal precision it claims, scientifically and as a coach or athlete, you should be able to understand the limitation of the systems of measurement you're using.

Insane athlete. Off the charts athleticism. It hasn't translated that well into NFL success. He's not even a top 15 FS. he's average, has good plays, has plays where he's blown up. but once he does figure it out, there's not many ways pure athleticism like that can fail, a 12 ft 3 inch broad jump, a 44.5" vertical jump and runs a 4.43? he could be all time great with Hops and speed like that.
@hansallread8049
@hansallread8049 7 жыл бұрын
submissivelover while I agree he hasn't reached his potential he easily played like a top 15 FS last season...heck the nfl1000 scouts have him ranked at 4th based off our coverage, tackling, positioning and so on
@submissivelover
@submissivelover 7 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure what NFL1000 is, but Byron has No Pro Bowl, no all pro, led the NFL in no considerable statistic among Safeties. To me he's done nothing to be a top 15 Safety. I haven't found a ranking of Byron Jones for 2016 season yet, either. Do you have a link?
@hansallread8049
@hansallread8049 7 жыл бұрын
submissivelover this is the most accurate ranking sight I've found: bleacherreport.com/articles/2685170-nfl1000-final-regular-season-breakdown-of-the-leagues-top-players and I don't believe he has to lead in statistical areas just to be considered good...I mean his coverage ability along is better than most safeties
@submissivelover
@submissivelover 7 жыл бұрын
I would agree, but i've seen Jordan Reed Torture Byron. I've watched Zach Miller destroy him for 2 TD's and of course his play against Green Bay, Jared Cook killed him and several other players like Cobb and Adams had huge gains based on coverage from Bryon. Including the most significant catch by Cook of them all, that ended the game, was Byron's coverage. That's not top 5, no matter what that NFL1000 says, i'm not sure how they landed on the approximations as well, if they truly watched him, exploited as often as he had been.
