Anyone who is professionally trained in the use of deadly weapons such as firearms knows that you are trained to fire until you neutralize the threat, which in this case seems appropriate.
@MrKeserian2 жыл бұрын
Ding. I did most of my training up at Sig in Epping, and the thing that was emphasized the most was "the use of deadly force will continue until a reasonable person believes that the threat has been neutralized. If the target is still taking actions that threaten your life, or another's life, continue the application of lethal force until they stop. If that means you dump a mag and reload, dump it and reload. Rounds are cheaper than lives." I guess the last line sums it up. If I'm convinced lethal force is necessary, legally, I'm already at the point where killing someone is the lesser of two evils. Until the aggressor visibly ceases to be a threat, you continue to engage. If the aggressor dies because of it? Sorry, but you're forcing me to choose between the person who started the fight, and the one who was attacked. In that situation? I'm gonna pick the defender every time.

3-4 shot groups indicate the good samaritan has at least some training. Maybe military, former LEO or a really good firearms course at the shooting range. Amateurs will shoot once and reevaluate; maybe try to aim for an arm or leg to injure the suspect. Not us. We put 3-4 shots in center mass and if that doesn't make em slump, they get 3-4 more. We don't shoot to kill; we shoot to stop the threat. If the suspect dies as a result, so be it. Using a gun to stop a threat is, by definition, the use of deadly force no matter where or how many times you shoot the suspect. Its a force that can lead to death. It doesn't mean it has to. Matter of fact, oftentimes, it doesn't.

@Bobby Wink , tell me where exactly anyone has mentioned what the color of anyones skin? I don't mean way back, I mean that you are inadvertantly saying this. I do think that way way too many young black men dress and carry themselves like the very people that have been more often than not profiled, but as sad as it is to say that because of the behavior of so many others everyone is considered a thug. And you may be an educated, well dressed proud young black man and not a moment's unrest ever caused by you and you will be treated unfairly. But if you've not been under a rock then you know that good officers are afraid and untrained or worse, they are just bad and you can find yourself the victim of just a bad person and compound the fact this person chose to become a card carrying member of the haters club, and think and perhaps be right with thinking you can open season on people of color especially men of color. I grew up and still live in Tn. And there only white family on our street after an example of Former First Lady Michelle Obama's 'white flight' we were there only white people that didn't turn, sell and leave their brand new house. I'll tell you we came from 17 people all ages and 3bdrm and 1 bath. Into a 5bdrm 2 full baths, you can't imagine the difference and my grandparents were raising me and my uncle's were 1 ,3 and 5 years older and these were the closest in age. But we were all still in lower grades is school at the time and in just a very few years we were the only white family left and wouldn't sell that house until everyone was gone and to much house for America's family unit now with 2.5 kids and a golden retriever. We grew up there, kids are so innocent because we built our home in 68' & 69' growing up listening to the music of oldest kids while jumping rope on the street and block parties. End of summer break street parties, Lord my grandfather was a bit prejudiced just a little bit and the rest of us didn't have a clue of what it meant and these are still friendships that I carry through my life today and we have grandchildren that go to school together and it was it was a simpler time for us to have been such a huge time for America.

Been relating this for years and glad some people still care enough to stop and help, even if it means the use of deadly force. I grew up in the middle of the US, where a person would give the shirt off their back to help you, and moved to Florida when I was 14, where people never stopped (for me anyway) or even asked to assist. But we CAN overcome this, through compassion and just plain, simple caring for others. Soldiers (and officers) put these uniforms on every day, month after month, year after year, knowing they may not come home one day......yet, they do it out of a sense of duty for doing what is right.....and I try and relate this as much as I can....here, in chats and comment boxes.....because we as a people can make that difference. We can stop fights, where a kid is punched and dies from the blow....or when several people jump on one person......the CROWD standing around does have the ability to stop it....and we need to! Why? Because this whole in-fighting needs to stop. Unchecked it is going to spin out of control and before you know it, one idiot ignites the fire.....and any type of civil war will last a very long time......decades, possibly generations. I’ve seen it in the Middle East and Bosnia.......and if you want to walk among death and abandoned cities......stand bye and do nothing. If “We the People” stand up and say enough.....to crime, to the selfish, to the greedy, to corrupt politicians......things will change. The only one stopping us, is us. Peace my friends. 🙏

ubtaz Agree. Iv always been taught to keep shooting but i know thats dangerous in this situation and especially others. In this situation because if you keep shooting while they are on the ground, your round can go through them and ricochet and hit someone els. I think one thing to remember is that we have the right to bare arms, but I dont think everyone should due to the fact that iv seen ignorant people do more harm than good with them, like free firing at a suspect with the victim in between and the suspect lives and the vic is dead due to an un-responsible, un-trained armsed bystander. I dont care if its a right. If you go out their thinking you can just start shooting at a bad guy, then you dont need a gun. I think everyone that is a responsible gun carrier would agree that if even if your hearts it the right place, you still probably shouldnt carry a gun if your not going to use it responsibly and cause more harm than good. Now, that doesnt mean they should be restricted by any authority but, its just some advice I hope some sung ho gun enthusiasts think about. Guns are tools. Not toys you can just play around with.

But I'm concerned about what some folks will do. My biggest fear is that someone who doesn't have sufficient training shoots me while I'm engaging a criminal to save my own life or someone else's.
