Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters complimented the officer's "bravery," but the officer himself said he was banned from the bank where it happened. The bank claims this is a misunderstanding.

You are missing the point of why that policy exists. Most robberies end up with 0 deaths and often times even no ijuries if you comply because for robber shooting someone just gives extra sentence if caught and extra priority for law enforcement to find the now murderer. By not complying with an armed robber you put not only yourself but also everyone else in the area in a lot higher risk of getting hurt/killed. Unless you have a guaranteed way to stop the robbery with absolutely no risk of them opening fire at civilians, you let them go and let the law enforcement deal with the situation later on. What this cop did could have easily escalated into both the bank's employee and the police officer getting shot. An absolutely unnecessary risk just to stop someone from stealing money

@@BoopSnoot non-interference is not about the bank robber whatsoever. in the extremely rare case of non-suspects being injured or killed, it was because of 'good samaritans' interfering with the robbery. beside that, i don't know why anyone would draw a firearm and do violence to someone for taking from an institution that robs you and the rest of us on a daily basis. its not like the bank is sending out letters to clients letting them know "sorry, your funds were robbed" - hell, new money isn't even printed to replace the old. the guaranteed insurance is already printed and while technically in circulation, its sitting stagnant in vaults in the fed. if anything, bank robberies promote the circulation of currency and are in fact an economic stimulus when the lender has 0% loss.

I used to work in a bank... and yes the industry wide policy is to not call the police until the robber is out of the bank for fear that it will make the situation worse. Most robberies take less than 5 minutes, usually involves a note with no gun drawn. The robbers wants to be in and out as fast as possible. Sometimes fellow bank employees don't even realize a robbery had taken place until after it's over. That being said, this situation shows the robber walked in with his gun in the air, which suggests this would be a "take-over robbery", a much worse and dangerous situation. The bank was luck the officer was there and he did the right thing. What we have here is some idiot with about 6 months of actual "branch experience" who works in the head office "ivory tower" and never experienced any type of robbery first hand got over zealous and didn't know what they were talking about.

Lol police officers don’t protect property, they steal it and throw people in cages, too often for nonviolent crimes. The Supreme Court literally ruled they have no obligation to protect or serve. They only have to respond to crime. Virtually every cop willingly and knowingly violates the constitutional rights of citizens in their career in order to stay employed (second amendment and fourth amendment are most common). Not to mention the intimidation tactics to get ignorant civilians to give up even more of their rights. They are mostly scum. They also do some good though! Just doesn’t quite get them off the hook for their tyranny and blind obedience to following orders.

I don't use Keybank, but for other reasons. When I wasn't financially stable, they had this habit of "holding" all transactions for days at a time. And then, if I happened to overdraw my account, they would re-order the transactions in whichever order would cause the most fees. The one that really took the cake, though, was when I had a hold placed on my account for over $200, which took my account down to less than $20. Then, I went to walmart, and overdrew my account. I got charged that fee, and then, because they processed the $200 AFTER the overdraft, they charged me one for that one too. When I asked about it, they said that it's because they "already took the $200 out of the account, and that's why walmart got the fee. But then they couldn't explain how the $200 that was ALREADY GONE got a fee as well. Stopped going there and left them with a negative balance 12 years ago. They can kiss my ass if they ever think I'll go back and pay it too.

all the bank is saying is to give the cash to the robbers to avoid things escalating and shooting up the bank. No need to get but(t) hurt about it. Banks have great insurance to replace stolen money. They'll file a claim and the tellers/customers get to live. The officer literally started a shootout inside the bank which even in hostage situations is the last resort for SWAT. This bank is actually placing a higher value on human life than over money by having a policy to give robbers the money. This comment is ridiculous.

AppCodeGuy What this guy did was protect a life. Multiple tellers have been executed at that location and I’m sure that day wouldn’t have been different. If the officer had stood there and done nothing I’m sure he would still be demonized anyways.

They would have been a lot smarter to not have said anything and truly thought it out. This was stupid of them. They could have said we thank Officer so and so, we are glad no one was injured, but we discourage non-law enforcement from intervening. That at least would have been less offensive.

Bank employees have an obligation to hand over the money, but police officers are not part of that arrangement. Police have an obligation to assess the situation and determine whether to engage. Outrageous that the bank thinks a customer or a cop has to go along with the employee policy. Thank God the cop was there, and shame on the bank for lying.

Now, say that robber, who was laying there next to all these innocent people... shot one of them and killed them... You are aware that the city would immediately be on the hook for the millions of dollars they have to pay out right? You cool with that?

Now, lets suppose the cop just stood there and the robbers get the money and killed someone anyway, what happens then? The cop was doing what he was supposed to do. Or lets suppose that he let them go and they went on a robbing spree, what happens then? You cool with people like these running around without repercussions for their action?

thenerdnetwork let’s say your loved one was in the bank or a teller and you find out after the rover killed them and got away that there was an armed trained cop in the building! You would be cool with that because of a possible lawsuit? Yea I didn’t think so

Providence OPC-Bradenton the only safe bet is that if sombody points a firearm at you...they ARE going to fire upon you. Were officers trained to wait until they were fired upon, we'd have many more deceased men and women in blue. Sombody draws in comission of a crime, if there's an officer (or a civilian for that matter) who has an open shot, I'd prefer they (officer ir civilian good samaritan) take said shot.
