Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters complimented the officer's "bravery," but the officer himself said he was banned from the bank where it happened. The bank claims this is a misunderstanding.

You are missing the point of why that policy exists. Most robberies end up with 0 deaths and often times even no ijuries if you comply because for robber shooting someone just gives extra sentence if caught and extra priority for law enforcement to find the now murderer. By not complying with an armed robber you put not only yourself but also everyone else in the area in a lot higher risk of getting hurt/killed. Unless you have a guaranteed way to stop the robbery with absolutely no risk of them opening fire at civilians, you let them go and let the law enforcement deal with the situation later on. What this cop did could have easily escalated into both the bank's employee and the police officer getting shot. An absolutely unnecessary risk just to stop someone from stealing money

@@BoopSnoot non-interference is not about the bank robber whatsoever. in the extremely rare case of non-suspects being injured or killed, it was because of 'good samaritans' interfering with the robbery. beside that, i don't know why anyone would draw a firearm and do violence to someone for taking from an institution that robs you and the rest of us on a daily basis. its not like the bank is sending out letters to clients letting them know "sorry, your funds were robbed" - hell, new money isn't even printed to replace the old. the guaranteed insurance is already printed and while technically in circulation, its sitting stagnant in vaults in the fed. if anything, bank robberies promote the circulation of currency and are in fact an economic stimulus when the lender has 0% loss.

I used to work in a bank... and yes the industry wide policy is to not call the police until the robber is out of the bank for fear that it will make the situation worse. Most robberies take less than 5 minutes, usually involves a note with no gun drawn. The robbers wants to be in and out as fast as possible. Sometimes fellow bank employees don't even realize a robbery had taken place until after it's over. That being said, this situation shows the robber walked in with his gun in the air, which suggests this would be a "take-over robbery", a much worse and dangerous situation. The bank was luck the officer was there and he did the right thing. What we have here is some idiot with about 6 months of actual "branch experience" who works in the head office "ivory tower" and never experienced any type of robbery first hand got over zealous and didn't know what they were talking about.

Not to mention the intimidation tactics to get ignorant civilians to give up even more of their rights. They are mostly scum. They also do some good though! I don't use Keybank, but for other reasons. When I wasn't financially stable, they had this habit of "holding" all transactions for days at a time. And then, if I happened to overdraw my account, they would re-order the transactions in whichever order would cause the most fees. The one that really took the cake, though, was when I had a hold placed on my account for over $200, which took my account down to less than $20. Then, I went to walmart, and overdrew my account. I got charged that fee, and then, because they processed the $200 AFTER the overdraft, they charged me one for that one too. When I asked about it, they said that it's because they "already took the $200 out of the account, and that's why walmart got the fee. But then they couldn't explain how the $200 that was ALREADY GONE got a fee as well. Stopped going there and left them with a negative balance 12 years ago. They can kiss my ass if they ever think I'll go back and pay it too.
