@@micheallaymance7870 the REAL dangers of benzodiazepines, are: (1). They're virtually impossible to OD on, (2). They are not only SAFE, but great at treating numerous symptoms, (3.) They are affordable WITHOUT med/health insurance, and most importantly, (4). They work immediately. Why take an antidepressant, a mood stabilizer, and an antipsychotic (being used off label as an anxiolytic), when you can just take Xanax, whenever to feel like you need it? "Benzo's are Here-2-Stay, less war lead the way!" If you need neutral but positive benzo information from good European sources (I say European because DTP is illegal in Europe), let me know, and I will help you. BTW: I've been on various BZD's since 2004, and a mainline diet of clonazepam since 2015 (2-3 mgs a day), and I FORGOT to bring my clonazepam with me. I've been without it for two day's now, and I must survive another five day's with my inlaw's (I hate every last one of them). A little forehead perspiration, and short-temperedness (the kids need more discipline anyway) is all, and even thirty more day's would be doable. Sixty more day's is undoable not because of BZD detox, but because Jesus Christ himself would gladly shoot all of these $hitheads in order to escape the insanity they cause. Take care, miche

OP: “…because you are going through withdrawl.” Did you read that carefully enough? No, you did not. The folks who write in capital letters, screaming and yelling- in writing no less, -are so very defensive and fearful. We can FEEL their fear through the screen. I worry for you, for Them. Granted, drugs affect individuals differently, but clearly, clearly, you are aware that we can make pretty solid generalizations about this particular drug. Come on, man! Think. Based on direct experience. Read that again. Also, become better informed of the science before the ranting commences. Do you, but be aware and well-informed. To come on here and do otherwise is lazy. You’re not in w/d, have your wits about you…do better. Because you can.

I am going through this as we speak, and this is the saddest and most painful experience I’ve ever experienced in life. I’m a college graduate with a BA in creative writing and a MS in education, now studying acupuncture which has helped me alleviate the withdrawal symptoms of clonozapam. Unfortunately, a friend gave me this pill right after graduating with my BA. I was addicted for over 10 years. When I realized it had messed up my life , I went to the hospital and no one helped. They treated me like a drug addict. I lost friends and family. I am still suffering. This ruined my life and natural psychological development. It destroyed me and my relationships with work, friends and family. I’m still recovering and seeking therapy.

Never give up ! Ive been through a ghb rehabe by my own and the pain and stress was at a high peak , it was horrible . I started training ,eating healthier and meditating with psychedelic wich, i do not recommend the psychedelic in a withdrawl but meditation would be good . I have foud that these are the only real medecin that treat mental illness because, throu pain you will grow stronger and much more aware of your thought process . This will help you build a much more sane life style . See it as life giving you a wake up call instead of a defeat .

“It ruined my natural psychological development” Oh, wow…this resonates w/me. I feel almost immature in my relationships, like I missed years of “practice.” It’s hard to put into words, but yours comes the closest yet for me. @@donna6165 I’m actually overcoming this demon at this point. I’m benzo free for 2 years now. I’m in my second year of acupuncture school. I recently got married and want to start a family. I relate to what you said about losing years of practice. I’m healing and don’t really feel like I’m suffering anymore. I’m inspired to become a mental health advocate and utilize acupuncture to help others. I hope this is talked about more often and the education system can be receptive to providing this enlightening education to the younger generation. A lot of people are ignorant to how this pill can damage someone’s life and we need a wise support team to intervene on behalf of those who make this mistake like I did and just an education in general on the dangers of a benzo when no one really needs that. We need more talk therapy , love and nurture to eradicate these types of addictions

Benzo withdrawal is the most worst thing ever. From 27 years old to 30; A prescription from my medical doctor to a psychiatrist I slowly became addicted. Then almost a year ago I was on a hellacious train to get off. People I hear make jokes about the drug or who have a prescription I try to inform them about what they could possibly lead themselves into. I always tell them "if you like that drug, one day you might meet The devil". The pain your body goes into, the insomnia, loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, loss of motivation, you can't get out the bed in the mornings, mood swings, depression. And that's not including the fact you have to deal with all what I just listed but also go to work and take care of your kids. STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM BENZOS!!! This is your warning. That's why your watching this video. Because you know your in trouble. Well If it hasn't completely took affect or your not completely addicted, you will be. Stay away!

I was taking prescribed Klonapin for 15 years, never told about the dangers of it. For 11 of those years, I was upped to 4mg/Klonapin per day. I unfortunately moved to this very scary town that I thought was "country," but ends up it was a prison town, drug-infested people and in a highly uncaring county in California. Such a small and creepy town that there were no doctors, just a Physician's Assistant (that I thought was a doctor). He chose to cut me off of Klonapin cold turkey even though I begged him to taper me off safely unknowning what a withdrawal would be like. He smirked at me and said "No." I had 1 day and 1/2 left of Klonapin. Had to look up on the internet what was going to happen. It was worse than what the internet said would happen. I can't go into detail because, even 6 years later now I can't go there to think too deeply about it and all that happened (that I remembered that happened). I think I may have had a seizure or even died because I "woke up" to my beloved cat screaming and scratching me. Other than whatever that was, I did not get one minute of sleep the entire two weeks. I should have died several times, and tried to end it a couple of times that I remember, but I had special needs cats that I love so much I couldn't bear to see them left in this creepy town where there were a lot of abandoned animals already. I was completely alone except one friend from high school that called at least once a day which helped a lot from what I can remember. I remember frantically writing my Will to make sure my cats would be taken care of because I knew I was going to die. The day the chemical part left my body, my jaw shifted very hard, I suddenly had very loud Tinnitus (still have), my vision changed and never went back to normal, I lost my taste and smell completely (way before COVID, btw), I had burning mouth syndrome for about a year, and my most precious cat that I've had since she was a baby and was 12 at this time, she sniffed me and ran away from me and hid for a few days. I was absolutely heartbroken and angry at the Physician's Assistant at the same time. I was graced with a regular credit card turning into a Mastercard so I could use that to move back to my safe county and town, but it wasn't easy and took some time. I am so, so nauseous just writing this. I knew I was moving back to my home town to die because I didn't want to die there and I wanted to be sure my cats would go to a certain rescue That I knew would make sure they were taken care of and would provide their medicines and find them great homes. Detail for my withdrawal from this horrifying medicine literally takes me back there so I don't talk about it much. While on it I became a recluse; lost all motivation to do anything fun or creative (I had a really good job as a Legal Secretary/Paralegal downtown L.A., also danced professional foclorico, also played percussion in quite a few bands. That was, and still is all gone. Six years later, I stay in the house although did some hiking for awhile, but too many triggers came so I'm back in the house. The only, and I mean ONLY meaning in my life and love I have is for my beloved cats. They are the only-only reason I am still alive.

Plus, I had seizures and involuntary face ticks. I remember on my 11th day with no sleep. I thought I was going insane. It was my mindset that got me better. Stay busy in the day. My Dr left his practice with a 2wk notice with no Ativan script after 20 yrs. I almost died. No one knew about the sever withdrawal symptoms. I hallucinated BP problems along with terrible anxiety. It's been almost 2yrs ago no one will prescribe benzo for me. I still experience many of the symptoms that the people shared. God bless you all who are experiencing withdrawal.

My anxiety gets so bad that I'm hospitalized . Given nitro under my tongue because they think I'm about to have a heart attack on the way to the hospital. Admitted and given a stress test then they realized nothing is wrong, with my heart. But anxiety. Thank you for this video. I refuse to open that door. Blessings, everyone ❤.

My withdrawal lasted almost TWO years physically & mentally from Benzos. Self created HELL. Took Benzos for about a decade, HARD! Abused them; 20-30 pills daily towards the End. Easy to get; dirt CHEAP. For me, makes Opiate withdrawal seem like a Glorious sunny comfy vacation. Seizures, insomnia like I've never experienced. Pretty sure I had a couple of REAL nervous breakdowns. My significant other cared for me like an infant. Self Created "Nightmare" is gross understatement. I was So sick physically/mentally, couldn't work... Couldn't drive, couldn't read, write, sign my own f*cking name. Couldn't drive/eat/sleep. Shaking uncontrollably for a couple months, then twitching, then jumps, Ect. Suicidal Instructive Thoughts. My body/mind DIDN'T belong to me💔❤️‍🩹💔 my memory down plays what I went through. My short term memory is SH*T! Shamefully SCARY terrible.

Wow. On my own journey. Slowly tapered off... by myself. Didn't tell anyone because I am a compliant person. I didn't want anyone to talk me out of it. The withdrawal has been difficult. I have given birth to 7 children and understand pain. The withdrawal symptoms have been tortuous. The dizziness between doses made me feel like I was on a boat violently rocking. Or my head was lurching inside. Such a weird sense of being out of this world in not a good way. Needle like nerve pain that made me jerk n twitch. Skin crawling. Insomnia. The very worst was falling asleep. In the state of sleep anxiety would rise up higher n higher until I could hardly breath and my body was to tense that I felt like I was in a vice. I have been wondering how long this would go on. When I initially googled it said 10-14 days. But the more I have read n researched the more it sounds like it may be much, much longer. If so then I have a long way to go. Even so, I am determined not to turn back. Forward through this to healing n freedom. Not sure that I even want to return back to the doctor. I am done.

It’s been a year after I quit benzos cold turkey after taking it for 6 years. My doctor won’t reduce my dosage despite all the side effects I was having while on meds, so I had to cut it off myself. The withdrawal symptoms are absolute hell. I have headaches 24 hrs a day everyday, worsening depression, insomnia, suicidal thoughts, dissociation syndrome, and panic attacks. The end segment hit home. I was taking .25 mg every 3 or 4 days as needed. When my refills were gone, I went to the doctor and told her about the withdrawals. Tigheness in my head to the point where it feels like my head is gonna explode, burning in arms/legs, rapid thoughts while trying to sleep to the point where your having a conversation inside your head and unable to fall asleep (I can't explain it fully.) She told me there was no way I am having withdrawals from such a low dose. I'm here to tell you that I do and they are very real. This is coming from someone who has access to them, and who cuts a pill in half instead of taking the full dose. Just 0.25 mg every 3 or 4 days is all it takes for your body to get hooked on them.

I was tapered down to . 5 2x per day over a cpl months from . 5 3x a day. A cpl weeks ago I had the misfortune of getting a temp doc. She refused to refill. I had 5 pills left. I've been prescribed them for 15 years now. Have seizure disorder, TBI, PTSD and autonomic dysfunction since 07. I'm being forced to quit cold turkey now. I go back next week, and expected to not have it in my system, or I lose the rest of my meds. Was told by another doctor that the dose I'm on is so small, no big deal to just quit as the other doc forced me to do, right? It's a big deal to me, having my skin crawling, equilibrium is shot, feels like I'm skidding sideways at 90mph perpetually now. Tinitus is ringing my ears off the hook. In addition, having most all the issues listed above. I called the doc's office back at least 10 times this last 2 weeks after the temp dropped me. Several times was told they would talk to my doc and have a nurse call me. They never have.

My personal story - I was prescribed 1 mg Xanax 4 times a day for anxiety after Lily was born. I was instructed to "bite them in half" and take them throughout the day. Soon I noticed my life was a living hell. Fatigued. Confused. Depressed. I cried begging the doctor to take me off. He said "No. Your bad thoughts will get worse and you'll gain a bunch of weight." So I quit cold turkey. Ended up suicidal and in the psych hospital twice. Moral of the story. Doctors take a 2 hour class on benzos and hand them out to innocent people like candy. You don't give a young mother 4 mg of Xanax because she's anxious. That's a recipe for disaster. I'm not alone in the hell I've been going through for years. This has to stop. I don't drink. I've never smoked a cigarette. Yet I took a high dose of a potent mind altering drug for years because my doctor said I needed them. They're not a "mother's little helper." They're vile. They should be destroyed. There are other ways to combat anxiety. I'm surprised I'm still alive.

Nearly 50 yrs as a medical professional, veteran, and someone who knows what torture and panic attack is, and I cannot understand the misuse of benzos both in prescribing and in withdrawing when a doctor can be stupid and cruel enough to abruptly stop a patient's meds. This is insanity. Any MD that prescribes a benzo MUST understand that the termination of the script must be over months of taper, one step at a time until the patient is not facing dangerous symptoms of withdrawal. It's not rocket science, but there are idiots in the medical profession too, and they're responsible for suicides and suffering. "First, do no harm..." - Hippocrates

There's a common curse that says "May you live in interesting times". Considering they are now cutting patients from benzos left and right with no regard for their health and safety, coupled with opiate/drug epidemic, and the CDC and the state exercising totalitarian control over doctors and their licenses, I would say we live in said times. I'm 6 days off after tapering klonopin down to 0.125mg and I feel fine. I'm fucking blessed that I feel this way, b/c I've experienced horrible withdrawals and the stupid doctors (not all my doctor is actually pretty cool)/mental health system/state authoritarianism. Severe claustrophobia, unable to be inside a house, lights on all night, can't be in a car with windows up, no airplanes, sit in front of a window all day and night in fear of suffocating. I took several different types of benzo's for 17 years. Overall, I think they helped me. The problem I have is that doctors don't properly titrate people off the benzos. I was given a 10 day librium taper: which was seriously inadequate. The following 15 months were the worst of my life. I think they can be beneficial but the process of getting off them is seriously misunderstood.

I ran out of Klonopin because I had been using more than prescribed due to the tolerance. I ran out and then went involuntarily cold turkey. Initially, I thought it would be no big deal, maybe a few sleepless nights but nothing major, until my next refill. Boy was I ever wrong. What they describe is accurate, my muscles were all twitching and my stomach cramping, and the pain was awful. I was sweating buckets and shaking and could hardly breathe. It was so bad that even when a friend told me I could go get a few pills to get me through the worst of the withdrawals, that I could barely even get out of bed *to go pick up pills*. I couldn’t believe what a “drug addict” I was. It was horrifying. It took me only 6 months to completely taper off and quit, because I went hardcore in cutting to the very least I needed to function. I really wanted off of it. I actually still had several left that I never used when I was done. The worst part was the severe fatigue I felt for about 9 months. I had no energy and just wanted to lay down. Everything finally normalized. I’ve been off Klonopin for 3 years now.

It’s wild that Dr.’s continue going on these all expenses paid trips to exotic locations for “Work Shops” on how to peddle this crap but than have no clue as to really deal with it when there patients express concern from taking the stuff (for many years). They just lower the dosage , cut you off completely, which can lead to seizures or just give you a similar RX with another name or tell you to ween yourself off of it with anemic compassion or instruction. The medical establishment just revictimize the patient by blaming them & shutting the door. I smell a class action law suit in the future. I guess if your a Dr. being a drug dealer makes you a pillar of society now 🤫

I believe a good % of my group is currently suffering from BWS, they are still being prescribed the Rx, still using other benzo on the street, and they are unaware of dangers. It is difficult to convince anyone of what I am seeing- especially my patients. They will fight to keep their prescriptions, and they believe because it comes from a doctor it is safe. And on the flipside, many are not honest with the doctor about what other drugs they are taking on the street. Hopefully we can raise enough awareness.

Taken Diazepam for 10 years. Being forced to taper off of it has destroyed my life. I'm always feeling sick, tired, depressed and anxious. I was never like this before I was forced to taper. Spent nearly a year lying in bed, and I had only tapered half of my dosage. The lack of help from professionals is positively *CRIMINAL!* The venerable and compassionate Dr. Ashton said (in a video interview) that only about 30% of the patients she treated for benzo dependency experienced severe symptoms. However, she subsequently stated that that percentage is likely much higher, because more prescriptions are written every day, and many people never seek treatment-mainly because there is nothing that's effective. Further frustrating is how few psychiatrists and M.D.s who prescribe benzos have even heard of Dr. Ashton's or her work. I've told at least a dozen doctors and nurses about her amazing achievements (including writing The Ashton Manual), and not only do they not know of her, they don't care to even read up on it. In the age of smartphones and internet _everywhere_ , this is unacceptable! Yet we as benzo-dependent patients are forced to deal with this ignorance, because there is absolutely no research or efforts to change this hole in the medical community. I am baffled that in 40 years of prescriptions-at times the most popularly prescribed drugs in the western world-that there is absolutely no help available from the medical field. In the USA, the only option is to admit you're an addict, then go to a drug addiction detox center for a measly 3-5 days. There you'll be lumped-in with drug addicts and alcoholics, and the staff will rapidly withdraw you and give you barbituates, further exacerbating your problem. While I fear that there is no hope for a cure or any effective professional help in _my_ lifetime (I'm 30), it is my sincere hope that future generations do not have to deal with the benzo scourge. To whoever put this video together, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The one and only downside to it, is that more people need to see it-especially medical professionals and potential benzo victims. Also, an effort to make a new video featuring new faces should be made. ❤ Thanks Again!

@@frankieatkins1029 I did not get off of it. However, I did end up tapering down to a half the dosage I was on when I wrote that comment. Instead of 20-25mg, I take 10mg (daily). I too have a very difficult time leaving my home. That all changed when I was forced to begin tapering off of them. tangentalantisocial, and more ridiculous choice based on mostly biased data collected from drug rehab centers and overdose statistics (not anxiety patients). Doctors shouldn't prescribe benzo's to new patients, but for those who've been on them for many years, it goes against the Hippocratic oath to force patients off of them and into years of withdrawal. *To answer your question,* I managed to taper the Valium down to 10mg per day, and that dosage _just barely_ holds me through the day. During the taper I Ywas sick constantly (all the usual symptoms). It was a living hell. Thankfully, I haven't been forced to take any less Valium for over a year now, as my doctor is kind and understanding of how badly the withdrawals affect my life. As I'm sure you know, _one_ of the many terrible things about benzo withdrawal is how long it lasts-and sometimes it feels like it's going away, but then it comes back. *_ANYWAYS,_* I know that was more reply than you were looking for, but it's a 'passionate' subject for me. @@lynlee6861 No. Kratom is rubbish. At low doses it acts as a stimulant, which is _the last thing_ you want when you're withdrawing from benzo's. At higher doses, it just makes you stoned; it doesn't actually help. Look, I realize that it might have helped you, or your friend, or someone you know, but for 100% of the people I've talked to who are going through benzo withdrawal and tried Kratom, it either didn't work or it simply made things worse. It just makes you high (if you can keep it down), that's all. Also, it has the bonus of being quite addictive; so even if it works, when you're done withdrawing from benzo's, you'll have to ween off of that too.

@@user-cg9ei8lm8v Very true. With the understanding that the only way to stop these dangerous meds is to sue, we can see that prior administrations helped protect the industry, which is why we have seen almost no lawsuits for benzodiazepines and other medications. Luckily we have a window of opportunity now that we have President Trump in office, but if he is not reelected in 2020 that window will close. First on the list slated to be passed, as soon as Trump is out of office, is the "Medication Protection Act" which will forbid anyone from suing if they suffer damages from a prescribed medication. This is why it is so important for benzo victims to start filing those lawsuits now.

Personally around 4-7 days after last use is when withdrawals get the most intense for me (have used alprazolam and klonopin) The effects I get from withdrawal include Mental fog Strange body sensations Muscle spasms FACIAL spasms Ears ringing Rebound anxiety Feel like I’m slipping from reality All this subsides then goes away after 2 weeks from last use though. Last year I started tapering of Tranqipam 2.5mg and Dopaquel. It took me 6 months and it was hell. I stayed on 1mg of Tranqipam and decided to start tapering off two weeks ago. I am starterting with withdrawal and it is super hard. If I can tell the world not to start taking these drugs, I would. To prevent others from going through the same hell. Yes they worj, but the side effects are also life changing. Memory loss, fatigue, agitation, and the list goes on and on. Only now my dr informed me that there are drugs to help with anxiety that are not benzos. You don't get addicted and you don't need to taper off. WHY AREN'T THESE THE FIRST OPTION WHEN THE NEED TO GIVE YOU MEDICATION

My gosh!! Those other drugs must not bring in big money for Big Pharma! Because it’s all about money anyhow. That’s why they don’t care about us all being in withdrawal hell…

14 years of 4 milligram a day Klonopin addiction. I cleaned up MYSELF. I don't recommend it at all to detox by yourself. Anyway, it's been almost 8 years now of freedom from Benzos. It is WORTH it.

Great video. I am a new alcohol rehab nurse. I entered the rehab field in honor of my son whom we lost to addiction. I am shocked at the use of Ativan and Librium with all alcoholics who come in for detox. This is a travesty to give such a highly addicting drug to alcoholics who then may leave the rehab with 2 addictions instead of 1. I am taking a stand but the other nurses have deaf ears.
