It doesn't help that Tengus are also the cheapest fighters. Who cares if they are the most fragile ones (although they are ironically better against anti-air, likely because of their armor type) when you can just overwhelm air units with their unrestricted numbers?

Jet tengus are allowed to easily escape via transform. They can also counter infantry and (with honourable discharge) vehicle. They're also amphibious so they can help out in the water as well

Though also technically tengus can benefit from the nanodeflectors and also from the fact apollos need 1 airport, which needs 1 power plant for 2 airports, for 4 of em so apollos actually could be said to cost 1350 while tengus are ((800+2500+200)/Number of expected tengus) I'm pretty sure the video was done with the allied plane upgrade thing so i'll count that as. nanodeflectors is similar to say, a 50% boost to tengus compared to the video. You know what we end up on ? An absurd number. to break even with allied players in air battles per $ assuming the allied player is keeping up in apollo spam due to tengu swarming, empire tengu mecha players need to get to 24 tengus (vs 16 apollos at the same cost) Obviously though tengus will end up owning regardless from even earlier because math works in such a way that if the allied player spent half that on ground defenses and other half on air vehicles while the empire just spammed tengus the empire player either can just devour 8 apollos with his 24 tengus And whereas 16 apollos vs 24 shielded tengu is slightly in the empire's advantage with huge losses due to the fight's duration, 24 tengus vs 8 apollos will end up with 8 dead apollos and less than 5 of the tengus lost most likely. Those 20 same tengus (16k worth of tengus) then coming down to overwhelm 12k of other units, with infantry being yeeted out of the fight instantly due to the pure infantry killing power and ability to reposition of the tengu. Then there's honorable discharge exploding and wiping out heavier allied units as the 2-6 remaining tengus(unless ennemy had a lot of heavy armor/anti air that shot the tengus down when fighting apollos, then they likely all died) then can freely progress to the rest of the base. it's pretty hilarious to think of honestly, which is why allies build anti air/only fight on ground/sea or straight up base rush vs empire.

In reality of PvP actually tangus are abnormally useless. And Author was using Apollos without Aeronautics. This changes everything.

Two Apollos, with Advanced Aeronautics, can take down 4 Mecha Tangas. If I remember the of mecha tengas correct number he sent against me. It was PVP

@Daniel von Strangle whilst I said that tengus were the weakest of the 3, I never said they were bad Yes, an apollo might do less damage against big targets, it's the fact that it beats the other 2 in air superiority that makes it the best, as it makes it safer for the other air units

@Daniel von Strangle Migs seem to win out when in numbers though. Something about the math works out in their favor against large targets when in a group and the aoe deals with other groups of aircraft better than groups of apollo fighters do. from that pov they aren't dissapointing at all. especially if your opponent isn't super good with their micro. Shame they didn't test that in the video.

Tengus sacrifice alot for versitility, but can remedy it by making up for it in numbers.

And we shouldn't forget one important factor and that's the fact Tengus cost LESS than the other interceptors : for the price of 4 Mig, you get 5 Tengus. they have more HP, and dps than their counterparts, they're also better against other-types of units than just planes AND they cost less. How the heck could these be considered "weakest", please do tell cause I don't see

As I remember, Advance Aeronatic upgrade just add them more magazine and durability. But the damage remain the same. So yeah, not so much different I guess.

Yeah for me they are the best, they are the most versatile of the 3 jets, They might not be fast and outgunned when battling their enemy peers, but they still pack a punch, you can mass produce them, are Anti-air and ground attackers, they dont have to constantly resupply ammo and in case of events they are losing a AA dogfight or ground battle switch to mecha mode/ jet mode, good harassers

not only that, they are great anti infantry. they win in my book

The Tengus are really good. In all of the higher tier replays I've seen, in every Empire match, they'll get built. Apollos and Migs often don't get built, and when they do, they're only used for a part of the game, and I often see them get overwhelmed by masses of Tengus.

Tengu is probably the worst tbh, the only thing good is that u can have unlimited amounts of them

@@Toast_94 I did see that, they did not have the patriotic stripes on their wings. I can immediately tell if a aircraft does have them or not. Sometimes I don't get the aeronautics upgrade when I'm focusing on economy.
