You truly right on that! I won't even touch by long stick EAs C&C.. They really fucked up whole franchise.. Hopefully Westwood got good money by selling their company that they can live rest of their lives like kings because they deserve that! Oldschool C&C was really ahead of their time! Best RTS games if you ask me!

+magnusm4 Actually in Tiberian Sun, basic turrets like Nod Laser and GDI Vulcan can function without power even though they eat your power supply - not unlike basic turrets in Red Alert 2. It's the advanced turrets like RPG tower and Obelisk of Light that shut down under low power. But funnily enough; Nod SAM towers shut down when low on power while the GDI's one don't. Against Tibsun AI I usually use this pattern 1) quick scout with Light Infantry 2) marked their construction yard and war factory with waypoint (in case of Nod making Stealth Gen to cloak their base) then 3) zerg them with Orca Bomber / Banshee to take the Con yard and factory out in quick succession and then it's a mop up. Sure, you'll take losses as you beeline to those two building while ignoring power plants and SAM, but unless these two buildings out of equation, they'll just make new power plants, defenses, etc. ad infinitum and the game never end. Oh, and kills Hand of Nod on the next wave too, so no more bazooka dudes trying to shoot your jets down. On the subject of AI cheats; Starcraft Broodwar Skirmish AI can't cheat. *But that open a different can of worms*; namely it's ridiculously easy to get attrition to death unless playing on unlimited resource map like Big Game Hunter - assuming you survived its super-aggressive onslaught first. They don't even reach end-game tech like nuke or battlecruiser 90% of time.

+Guy Incognito In these earlier RTS games, the only time the comp had more starting cash than you was when you played it on hard, unlike a human player a computer doesn't have to think, and can build so as soon as they placed a building down, which is why when you play on faster speed settings it seems harder the worse your reaction times are as the computers reaction times are as good as the speed setting

Yes, this just feels right. This is a thing with open xcom to, everyone plays totaly zoomed out these days, which feels like a totally different game that way.

+Erik Keating Actually if you sell the refinery you would only get 300 back. the refinery is 600, while the harvester is the other 1400, so when you create a refinery your paying for both the vehicle & the building.

Bob Doodle There is a third-party patch but not something I would trust using. I think the C&C rights holders should have fixed the compatibility issues and for that to seem worthwhile business-wise we need customers like us to ask for an official patch. I have the Origin version of Tiberian Sun, it freezes in the menus. I had the «first decade» version and it was unstable 10 years ago on Windows XP. Since I still have my Windows 98 SE Pentium 2 computer I bought a pre-«first decade» copy of TS used. :)

You can get it for free. Google for "tiberian sun download". I don't have win8, so I don't know if it works. I use VirtualPC with win98 installed.

I run Tiberian Sun on a 27' iMac running Fusion 5.0.2 with Win7, and it works flawless, and at full speed. Although you do have to download the TS_Win8fix.zip (which is actually for Windows 8, but works for Win7!) But I haven't tried it on Win8. Tiberian Dawn also runs flawlessly with the Nyerguds 3.03 patch.

No it does not work on win 8 had to do win 7 just to play that game.

I just found a way to make it works on win 8 but it is not as smooth as on old windows.
