Utilizing the Antenna Tuner feature, I was able to boost the gain of Evening Signals without the use of additional External devices. @@byefelicia123 Hard to say best, it is up there, but the old school portables still rock, like the Panasonic RF-2200. Modern radios like this one, and the Sangean PR-D15 are decent.

I bought the EP Pro to replace a Superadio III which was 30 years old with lots of mileage. The first EP Pro had some issues so I exchanged it for another one. CCrane has incredible customer service. Very impressive radio, and built like a tank. The battery life is quite impressive.

This radio sounds fantastic. I want to add this to my "necessary" radio collection. Definitely sounds like it out performs most of my ham radios (which aren't really made for MW DX).

Just got this a few days ago. I think it must be version 4. Not pop when you turn it on and off and it has an led tuning light. All I can say is wow. This radio is just awesome.

You just totally sold me on the EP Pro. I’ve been dxing with my CC Pocket & Eton Elite Mini as of late with spectacular results. I have shied away from analog dials for dxing due to unlit tuning and unknown frequencies, but the EP Pro solves that. As a side note, has anyone ever dxed with your car’s AM radio? My 2020 Buick Envision is right up there with the best dx radios. However, rotating the ferrite bar antenna is a problem.

Ha! My 2014 Ford Escape does some decent AM DXing I don’t have an EP pro but my best DXers for AM are the GE Super Radio 3 and Panasonic RF 2400D

Hej Todderbert thanks for the bandscan The CCrane EP Pro is a very very fine radio would love to have this radio and it is on my buy list and ,Todderbert the first snow has come burr but most of it is gone now but,the Winter is knocking on the door take care and have a nice day.

Bought a Sangean PR-D19 and later the CC Radio EP Pro after watching your channel. Always was a AM DX'r with the GE Superadio III in the past.

From NZ. I love my EP Pro. Bought on your recommendation. Can you tell me if an external dipole aerial is of much use to reduce static and increase FM reception? (I have the new CCrane FM Reflect-2 Dipole Antenna coming on order)

It should help depending on the radio's location. The dipole will best attached outside, or on a window.

Is there no "Line In" switch? Or does the Line in override the radio function when a plug is inserted? OR is it mislabeled, and should read "Line Out"? Convention has it that a green jack is "line out" and "Line in" is a different colour - like pink or blue or something.

It is a Line In Jack that the radio automatically uses when something is plugged in. I've seen Green Jacks usually associated with stereo headphone out.

I'm hoping the latest iteration of this radio is very good I'm looking for a modern version of the GE super radio that's got all the frequencies and the same kind of ability to receive as well as a low noise floor

@@byefelicia123 Superadio II has the tweeter, and the better mid range main speaker if you are looking for more highs. I personally like the lower tones of the original.

@@byefelicia123 Oh, I thought you meant in audio, not band coverage. The EP Pro is solid, and will get those stations as well as any other large internal ferrite antenna radio can.

@@byefelicia123 I tried external am antennas directly connected to it, not worth doing. Its internal antenna is too good.

@@byefelicia123 The issue is the 200mm internal ferrites tend to be tuned so well, that most external antennas will not make a difference. You could try a long wire, then the incoming wire can be looped several times and then put in the proximity of the internal ferrite to act as a "feeder".

What is the use for the 1 thru 10 on the top of the bands display?

it is a way to log stations. some people add markers there, while others keep a notebook. This DSP radio has an accurate dial, so using a Log Scale may be redundant. Most users of this feature would be putting little labels of their favorite station's call letters there.

Both are great, some may say PR-D5, but I had one, and I enjoy being able to adjust the Bass/Treble on my CC Radio EP Pro. The PR-D15 is a great radio with 1kHz tuning, and Bass/Treble Controls. Run times will be best with the D Cell powered C.Crane.

Superadio, it is easy to service, and the Analog Tuning is Smooth.

Hello, I want to buy this receiver, but some negative reviews are stopping me. Maybe there is an alternative for the same money or even cheaper? What do you recommend? I would like to add that I am interested in the reception of stations specifically in the medium wave range.

Don't forget that it's stereo (with headphones) has a backlit display, and the incredible 'twin coil' antenna. I own one and the price didn't bother me a bit.
