Hi Marcus, I have a problem with my 2004', C5 convertible that is just the opposite of what yours was: I can't open my 'fuel door' with the release button that's inside my car. The past couple if times I've filled up I've had to use the "emergency fuel door release" located in my trunk. A couple of weeks ago I was in line to fill-up at Costco, went to use the emergency fuel door release and instead of releasing the door, the release wire cord detached from the release mechanism. I thought I'd broken it. When examining the cord I saw it wasn't broken. The little 'metal nub' that holds the release wire in it’s slot, similarly shown in your video, but on the "emergency fuel door release" end, was O.K. Somehow, when I pulled on the release cord, it came out of the slot in the door release module. I think it may have been improperly re-installed, when I had the driver's side, rear quarter panel replaced, due to a recent parking lot "hit & run" accident. In reviewing your video, I'm guessing that maybe the "spring" had not been re-installed properly over the release wire, which would allowing for the release wire to possible pull out of it's slot on the emergency release end. Just a guess. All I’m trying to do is reconnect this release wire. In the trunk there's a body panel which I believe is the "Driver-Side Fuel Tank Shield". This 'shield' is blocking access to fuel door release mechanism. Any suggestions on how to remove this shield? Once I can figure out a way to remove this shield, I'm sure I can reconnect the release wire which fixes the problem. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated!
