C63 AMG Downpipe Install - step by step, no trans removal

Installing aftermarket downpipes on a C63 AMG. This is the DIY method, no hoist, no removing the transmission. You'll need a reciprocating saw to cut the downpipes in half, as well as a socket set with 12-point sockets, and an o2 socket.
Car also has carbon fibre intakes and an ECU tune, sound clips at the end

bro im on it rigth now , is my first ,i just cut all out and i have to put evrything back ,took me 2 h thil now ...if you have the tools it will take like 5-6 h alone on the flor.... nice job! in the future focus on the job not arround...but nice job!

I'm wondering if u can remove the transmission mount bracket on the tail housing loosen the motor mounts and tilt the tailhousing downward(alot) to give u enough room to pull the downpipes out. Weither it be thru the top or the bottom. Looks like it's doable if u can tilt the trans enough.

Funny thing is that same engine in the aston martin: they went with a 2 piece design,so you can unbolt the lower half from the bottom.

@@hg1496 Yeah i think Audi is the worst though, changing spark plugs on my previous S6 C7 was not fun. Aston martin is doing something right it seems.

Before I cut the original pipes, I really would take out the transmission. Tajts what? 800 bucks in labour? 8000 bucks for new original pipes. Not my kind of job

Hi great video thanks for sharing. Can you tell me how you removed the back heat shield? I just spend 4 hours with a friend on it and we could finish it because we couldn't remove the shield to get to the second O2 sensor. There was no way for us to get a wrench in that small space. How did you do it?

If I can remember correct I think we removed one dow pipe first and then we could get the shield out. You would definitely need an 02 socket and some extensions to get that second sensor out, it's all pretty tight in there

@@Benji... We got the O2 socket.We are installing CTS Turbo pipes, we followed their instructions but once you get to removing the heat shield is impossible to get a wrench in there. We decided to stop and not to cut anything before figuring it out. Thanks for the help.

You would need to get a tune that accounts for the dow pipes and removes the code for it

No didn’t have to. It took a bit of force to get the down pipe past it, and if you don’t position right when tightening it can rub on the steering column

Yes stage 2 tune from Vader Motorsports. First shots of it running are without tune, then from 6:23 with tune. The tune also added a lot of burbling coming off throttle
