Cab ride in 66706 from Cambridge to Stratford 2001

Our fast return run from Cambridge to Stratford. Arriving at 9.00 after a long and eventful day. Thanks to GBRf for special permission to record the whole day. Once in a lifetime !

was a hive of activity,first employed there on footplate as fireman was hard work especially awkward hours.Then once they built the Freightliner Terminal worked there as a crane driver on cranes,but it is now the Olympic stadium

It's taken me many years to build up a good relationship with railway personnel. Maybe being of a certain age helps ( I was 68 at the time!)

how did you get a cab ride what did you have to do to get to that point are you a worker for the railway the reason i ask is because i really want to be in the cab of a whatley quarry run from Dagenham A.R.C or spend a day with Db shunting around ripple thats dream for me that most likely never will be forfilled great video mike

I retired 20 years ago from the fashion business, so no railway connections. But I did meet men from GBRf at Newport Docks when their locos were being unloaded and knowing my interest they invited me on board. I have also taken the necessary safety exams

This was a driver under training, so he was being instructed to do so.

Very difficult to obtain the necessary permission to gain access to the cab. Took me months of phone calls etc to find the right individuals to help me
