As you know, Pilentum is fascinated by doing cab ride videos with model trains. Therefore, in this video, a new model railroad layout is presented. It was built by a German railway club in HO scale. A special feature is the big hidden railway station and its parking trains and locomotives. Please, enjoy becoming a train driver in miniature. Visit www.pilentum.de, and thanks for watching.

Its a great layout, still a work in progress, yet im gonna beg to differ from you. The cab ride didnt reveal all the detail due to what apears to be a mainline trip for train. Countryside is lovely however. Lol

My God the attention to detail and the vastness of the layout. Okay maybe that sounds corney but this layout is super impressive to me. It must have taken years to develop the skill set to create this layout. Good Job.

Thanks for the memories. My uncle Art and aunt Dot were supers and owners of an apartment building in New Jersey years ago. When we would go to visit, about 50 years ago, uncle Art had a HO train layout that took up at least half of the basement of the building on the side away from the boiler/furnace and piping. It was so big he had built trap doors into the scenery and landscaping to get to different areas for access. You could "duck walk" under the layout and since he had it where you could turn on lights underneath it, you could see the drop down markers for the trap doors. It was a little boy's wonderment and an old man's passion. Uncle Art didn't do well with people in general, he lit up when it came to his trains. Thank you.

Ernest, thanks for this little story. I have carefully read your comment. Now, I ask myself: What happened to uncle Art's layout?
@ernestpaul2484
@ernestpaul2484 5 жыл бұрын
@@pilentum Honestly and unfortunately I do not know. As the teenage years rolled around I didn't visit as often anymore, as other interests took hold. Motorcycles, girls, fishing, motorcycles, cars and offroading, gearhead stuff. And girls. When I was eighteen I went in the Army and left home. It wasn't until recently, I am now 60, that I was brought up to speed on relatives I hadn't talk to or seen in years. Uncle Art and Aunt Dot had passed on and the building was sold as they had no children. I was never able to find out what happened to the layout or some of the train artifacts he had had. I imagine they were sold off also. It was quite the layout though. If he had thought about strapping a movie camera to a flatcar, or if one were small enough to do so, he would have done it. That is why I thought of Uncle Art's trains when I saw your video. Once again, thank you for the memory.

Great railroad, IMO. Love the levels. Almost as impressive behind the scenes as in front of them. Thanks for posting this. I LOVE 'cab rides'. I actually really like it when the cab view includes that time in the tunnels/'nether regions' of the layout.

Manchurian Scilly - Stupid comment. You do not even know me, so you have no way to know how 'weird' I am. If you had a properly working brain, you would have typed 'weirdo comment'. Okay dumb ass, what was weird about my comment? I thought the 'train yard' was very impressive and interesting to me. I care more about layouts then scenery.
@manchurianscilly8785
@manchurianscilly8785 6 жыл бұрын
McRocket evidently you can't see or read well. You like the "nether regions" like tunnels which are devoid of scenery, have naked track work, janky wood framing and light pouring in. It's weird ok. Therefore you are a Weird O. No big deal, you're just weird. Did you see anyone else post similar comments? So if not, then an irregular comment as such could be considered odd, weird unusual and calling you an oddo or unusualo might seem weird thus making me a weirdo too. And you like the nether regions? It's weird but I'm the dumazz right? Ok weirdo.
@McRocket
@McRocket 6 жыл бұрын
Manchurian Scilly - you are the one who cannot read. Hello? You cannot judge someone's ENTIRE personality from one comment on KZfaq...DUH. It makes you look REALLY stupid to try and do so. You should have said 'your comment is weird'. Not 'you are a weirdo'...again...DUH. So, you don't care what a person does for a living, if they volunteer for charities, if they have children, if they are a good husband...NONE of that matters to you. All you care about - in judging someone else weird or not - is ONE comment they make on KZfaq about model trains...LOL...now THAT is whacked. You must be one of those idiots who decides INSTANTLY and FOREVER what someone is like based on only a couple of sentences. Only jerks/idiots/losers do that (usually). And 'nether regions' applies not just to the tunnels dumbass. It applies to ALL regions not on display. Like I said, I found the big rail yard that was hidden to be VERY well organized and interesting. I like the way he labelled/marked each track. I like how he turns the trains around, etc.. There is more to model railroads then just the pretty scenery. Now piss off and go and troll someone else...idiot.

No hidden station, the large area with a lot of trains is called a fiddle yard. These layouts are designed for exhibitions and shows so trains make only 1 maybe 2 runs before its stored and another takes over. A fiddle yard fiddles the audience into thinking there is more scenery than we can see and far more trains ( i used to film at an exhibition and was lectured by railway builders for more hours than i filmed, i knew it would come in useful one day)

Don't look now but a big square ufo with big lights is hovering above the train at around the two min mark.... Now that's what I call attention to detail!! Such a huge layout... All the time spent, and the instant a flat earther comes here, well... We all know how that will go. I bet he will say you have pushed past the dome and beyond that is still being constructed. Lol seriously this is the biggest layout I ever saw.
