Happy to share an a-frame cabin update of my glamping site for my glamping business. In a previous video (linked below) I walk you all through the journey I took to build this cabin kit. I got the cabin from a company called Den Outdoors a few months back and did the complete build in about 7 or 10 days. It certainly wasn't easy but I got it done.
In this video, I give a quick cabin update and also a miniature tour of my glamping site. I show all of the aspects of my off-grid cabin setup and even give a sneak peek of the off-grid outhouse.
Be sure to subscribe to the channel to follow along with the cabin build when it arrives

what you can do for the propane tank and future plug-ins that you might want to install is to build a little tiny propane size box with a roof like the A-frame material. Make sure also to make it water proof.

Turned out great, looks like an awesome retreat, especially the minimal design of everything, good job! It's funny you mention the flammability, we just stayed at a place that was only candlelit, had like 10 candles and I don't know if we'd trust people enough with that but it was super relaxing, sounds like you're on the same page. I like how you're finding all the flaws and trying to minimize them but I think you're probably right, most people won't even notice any of it and will enjoy their stay but the fact that you notice these things makes you a better host! :)

I love it! Im not interested in the business aspect so much as a simple and inexpensive retreat, but it’s cool to see one of these in actuality, rather than just marketing photos. You must have really been gutted over that window. I am, and it’s not even mine. I hope Pella makes (or has made it) 100% for you, because it’s pretty key. If I were to do this I’d definitely go for a wraparound deck in four pieces. I love the fact you’re planning for heat, AC, and basic power.

I was absolutely heartbroken by the window. It’s been about three months now and to be honest Pella is doing a terrible job making this right. It’s been a REALLY terrible experience. Window is still broken and they are giving me the absolute run around.

I have the heater connected to a 20 pound propane tank and I only use it on low since the space is so small and low is PLENTY heat. I think somewhere online I saw it rated to last 60 hours on low with a 20 lb tank. Using it in real life I would have to agree. It lasts a pretty long time.

A sofa/bed would be a better use of space but if I was focused on having the best use of space I wouldn’t have built an a-frame to begin with lol. I couldn’t find a sofa bed combo that fit my aesthetic and budget. I hope on rainy days people won’t mind lounging in bed or relaxing on the chair.

EXCELLENT VIDEOS man. One thing as a question not as a rant. Did you consider burning the surface of the outdoors wood since you went black as color of choice? It also makes it waterproof and possibly harder to burn in a fire but I am not 100% on the fire aspect. My son and myself plan on doing this very thing so I appreciate what you've shared with us all. Keep the videos coming please. Very interesting. I do know it would not take much effort to source the materials yourself though and build a small unit like this for half the price. Not even an experienced builder is required for this. This is pretty simple to build just tedious and time consuming, but again please don't take that as a gripe. It's more of a response to a few of your remarks.
@KeepItTiny
@KeepItTiny 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Rob. I def don’t take any of it as a gripe or rant and also you are pretty spot on with your comments! I know exactly what you are saying with burning the wood, I believe it’s called Shou Sugi Ban. I thought about it but the kit comes with an alternative method to get the same effect and benefits. The kit comes with a thick wax that you blend with another painting chemical (some type of primer that assists with the wax penetrating into the wood) that you use to give it the black color. It’s a pretty sweet effect and I wish I had the proper name for it but am responding from my phone on the go and cannot remember off the top of my head.
@KeepItTiny
@KeepItTiny 2 жыл бұрын
The cabin certainly can be built at a smaller price. Purchasing the kit just alleviates the hassle of researching and procuring all the necessary materials. So for people who don’t have the knowledge, time, or ability to get it done. I certainly fall into that category so I decided to go with the kit. If you are more handy (which you probably are) you can certainly do it yourself if you’d like.

@KeepItTiny

That is a great question. Out of the gate I will have about 10 sets of sheets so I can just swap. out the dirty for set for a clean set for a while before laundry will be a problem. From there I will drop them off at a wash and fold laundry place. In the future I could test out the portable washer and dryers where you just pour water into them.

Thanks for the comment and thanks for caring. You are 100% right, when I use that heater I pop open the window a good amount to ensure I am getting fresh air in the cabin. I have 6 foot air vent but I use the window as well just incase. Also, in the future I will be buying a direct vent propane heater that has its own vent outside so I won't have to worry at all at that point. I know that I can use this heater safely but I can't be sure others can/will so I will be changing it out shortly.

Much more space and quicker build than this a frame. I would not rent your a frame even if u charged me $20 !!!!!!.... If u spent $28,000......or less.....for an arched cabin, u would have a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom.......loft, much more than your a frame!!!!!!.... Check out arched cabin in Texas.....
