I sometimes wonder if it's weird to kind of fall in love with a person you've never met and to watch them build a farm or a house or a cabin and spend hours with them watching them do stuff and casually talk to you. But then they say things like "You gotta draw the line. I have a hard time drawing that line though." and you know you're just where you're supposed to be. Just saying. Love this channel. Dankeschön.

@@stacey8096 I'm from New Orleans where it's not unusual to see trees growing in people's gutters 😄 I did tree work for a while and probably 60% of our work was trimming trees away from houses. A lot of the time it wasn't even the customer's tree but the neighbors.

me too!! but just cutting those brambles at the ground won't kill them. they actually grow right back, and thicker. i found the best to apply appropriate herbicide as a basal bark application. it may take awhile, but the roots die and they never grow back. i too, was a tree hugger, but got educated and now manage my property where it now aesthetically pleasing

Progess is amazing. I would place some conduit under the straping before adding roofing so uf you need a wind mill or solar, allyou have to do is remove a small cap under the ridge cap and run wires down into the cabin.

This doesn’t really pertain to this video, but you talking about big windows made me think of this. My cabin has huge windows and bird strikes can be a problem at times. Well, I hung out a big flag between the windows just because I like the flag, and it turns out I don’t get bird strikes anymore. The birds don’t seem to like the movement of the flag. Anyway, nothing to do with this video but thought I’d post in case you’re getting bird strikes.

hey Graham, I am about start working on the roof of my cabin build and was going to do horizontal perlins to attach the metal roofing to. What was your reasoning behind adding the small vertical blocks under the perlins? I realize its probably to lift the perlins. I have been reading up on condensation with metal roofs and I think it may have something to do with that
@WoodnessGoodness
@WoodnessGoodness 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it was primarily condensation and more airflow to create heat mediation in the summer. It’s definitely more work and costs a little bit more, but I think it’ll be worth it.
@rondog469
@rondog469 3 ай бұрын
@@WoodnessGoodness Gotcha, ok yeah I was just going to do the horizontal with no blocks but was thinking if the roof were to condensate and drip down those purlins would stop it from draining. I may be doing what you did here now. Pretty sure we ordered the same roof material which is why I mentioned in another video that the eave you got was meant to go with a gutter. Anyway, keep it up, I know that feeling all too well of everything seems to just take WAY longer than you think. I've heard you mention that a couple times.
