G: why not just use those landscape blocks that have a 4x4 “slot” in the top for deck post bases. Seems easier than pouring concrete since you shouldn’t need to worry much about uplift forces on a deck. I dunno - maybe wind could still catch it

Sunday morning been down to the shop and cooking breakfast for the wife watching it happen. Given that there isn’t as much load the deck footings should be fine. I’ve seen more sitting on less before. Just remember to give the trees plenty of room when you cut out around them

I'm an ironworker. Have been for 24 years. I've worked at crazy heights. We yell "headache" when we drop a tool. Idea is no one is gonna look up when they hear Head ache, but will look up when they hear heads up. Luckily it's just you. Sucks when you drop a tool. Be safe. Nice progress. Love it.

Should you ever opt to go through all this again, get a rock climbing style harness next time with a D ring on the front so you can use your rope for positioning. Also you can get a bungie cord tool lanyard for your driver so you can't drop it.
