In this episode of Cabin in the Woods, we install the final steel siding up on the second story porch, and then wrap up the front porch details. This will conclude the exterior of this project, and next episode will consist of the interior build out.
This project is not a permanent residence by any means, but will be finished like a home. So if you have wondered about whether or not our structures would make good homes, stay tuned and make sure you hit the subscribe button. I promise the interior will be very cool!

For me, the ideas in kzfaq.infoUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

First post here but have watched for quite some time now. The caliber of your work and the detail reminds me of old school craftsmen labor ! It's great to see craftsmen taking the time to build such quality structures which will remain for many years. Thanks really appreciate you taking time to put out the quality videos and the tool reviews. Keep up the great work guys ! Have a great day !

Hey Kyle. That cedar post you added on the second deck was a really nice addition. Really framed the porch and give the screen guy/girl something to mount at. The alligment with the top beam makes it look like it is one solid structure. Kerp up your amazing work. Love your serieses, I watch all of them and learned allot that I used when bildning our carport/shed for our caravan. Cheeres. Henrik

Looking great I just think you jump on your finishes too quickly with out considering sub trades. Getting electrical in before siding would have worked great. You could have gotten plugs in the rock some lights. Better to have the trades mount their stuff and you cut around it. Now say they want pot lights, it’s up to the electrician not to ruin your soffit.

Just thinking about the vented ridge cap. Can you get a perforated (on the vertical surface) Z flashing so you can have the same connection type as the porch but be vented? A bit like the way the soffit paneling is perforated.

Couldn’t you do a short piece of z trim in between two ribs, about 6 inches, for the ridge vent. Or would that hinder air flow to much? It would make sliding it on a nightmare, but it would get rid of the oil pan.

you should do 6-8" of open cell foam on all your rooflines and you would never have to use vented ridge again! you wouldn't have to install your poly vapor barrier, vented soffit or your deflectors (baffles)...... you could also most likely downsize the Tonnage on your HVAC system. if you use TechSheild radiant roof decking you could go to straight osb. just sayin
