There are a number of different ways that a cabinet door can be misaligned or not shutting properly. I will walk you through the 3 different adjustments which will fix 99% of your issues without much trouble and can be taken on by any homeowner or renter.

OMG thank you so much for this! I just purchased my very first house, and I'm slowly doing little fixes every weekend. I had no idea about the adjustment screws to fix the sagging cabinet doors, but I just fixed every cabinet in my kitchen! Thanks so much!

I never really paid much attention to the adjustments but I usually adjusting by hit or miss. Your way is best and takes the frustrations out. Great video. Thank you for sharing

How would you adjust old school hinges (like the ones at 00:26) where the doors are misaligned? Are there any adjustable hinges that are drop in replacements for these that don’t require cabinet mods (boring holes, etc.)?

Wow thank you for this! I had just taken my cabinet doors off to repaint. When I put them back up, they were misaligned; and it was driving me insane. Fixed within a matter of seconds by using the adjustments.

Unfortunately I have traditional old American -style hinges. Probably installed in the 1950s.

For full-overlay doors on a cabinet with a face frame (like the ones in your video), should the reveal be the same on all four edges, especially the same on the top and bottom? Or, as I have seen in some examples, should the door be centered left and right, but have 0" (zero inches) reveal on the bottom edge? I am adjusting the doors on a cabinet over a microwave and I have some cabinets that are stacked, two and three high. Thx,

Hi Scott, what how do I get my cabinet door to close all the way? It’s a more economical concealed hinge, from 2010. Even when I manually close the door all the way, it pops open and stays open about 1/2 inch. Any advice you can give is much appreciated. Thank you.

used that first painted hinge on a project they are horrible. you get everything lined up, screw it down only to watch the hinge move and slid all over the place messing up everything. been wanting to use those concealef hinges but haven't been able to get the bits, etc., to use them so i get the cheaper, hinges which well suck.

So the majority of cabinet hinges open 95 - 110 degrees. I think there are specialty hinges like these amzn.to/3W7JIq9 that will only open 90 degrees and might meet your need.

My doors are made of real wood (birch) and have warped over time. No amount of fiddling with the hinges will get them to align properly. Any chance you could do a video on straightening warped doors?

I have two cabinets in family room, 12 years old. The installers put one door on the left that should be on the right and one on the right that should be on the left. How do I know?? The handles are misaligned exactly opposite on each side. I guess I could try removing the two doors to switch them. Will I mess it up?

What about for a front door? Our door is all out of alignment and I can see daylight at the top right of the door. Weather stripping is in good shape.

Happy to help. I think the plastic you are referring to is the plunger for the soft close feature. If that is what you are referring to that should stay in place.
