While one technician continues organizing cable in the data room and punching down the patch panels cablesupply.com/wallmountpp/ we visit with the technician terminating the jacks cablesupply.com/cat6-computer-... on the other end. We also take a look around the building and discuss tenant improvement jobs.

@ 05:28 You show a blue print with your cable route. I would be interested in seeing a video by your company on a tutorial on how you go about making a cable router on blue prints. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I work for a company in Erie PA doing this, we take pride in what we do, and only once in the year I have worked here have we had to go back and fix a jack, and it was 10 years old

Correction: you can NOT leave cables laying on the ceiling tiles. That is against building codes.

I understand what you're saying. However building codes are different in each state. I personally have never had a problem running one or two cables across ceiling tiles. Obviously if you're doing a cable installation in the building for the first time or adding large numbers of cables then you must suspend them above the ceiling tiles.

I understand this video is 10+ years old but why not punch down all the pairs on the voice keystone jack? 58B would be a solid bet. A standard RJ45 cat5e or cat6 jack will accept an 11 mod plug or better. If in a few years if your analog/pbx phones need more conductors or eventually VOIP, then its just done--no need to remove the wall plate or cut and re-punch or worst case run a whole new cable?
