The Duin- en Bollenstreek, Dutch for "Dune and Bulb Region", is a region in the Western Netherlands, that features coastal dunes and the cultivation of flower bulbs. Situated at the heart of historical Holland nearby the city of Leiden, it is bordered by The Hague to the west and Haarlem to the north. The combination of beaches, flower fields, lakes and history makes this area attractive to tourists. Ride along with me and enjoy my view!

Ieder jaar hebben we hier een Tulpenfestival. Dat is begonnen vlak na het eind van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, toen Albany, NY (waar ik dus woon) een inzamelingsactie hield voor Nijmegen, dat hard was getroffen. Als dank heeft Nijmegen toen tulpenbollen naar Albany gestuurd. Albany en Nijmegen zijn nu zustersteden. Mooie rit - dankjewel!

Het was een mooie treinreis Meester. Volgens mij is deze VIRM een van de eerste IRM want deze trein kraakt zo nu en dan. Bedankt voor deze nieuwe video 😁👍

De conducteur roept voor Leiden om (11:00) dat mensen voor 's Hertogenbosch beter niet de Sprinter richting Utrecht-Den Bosch kunnen pakken maar de IC via Schiphol. Klassiek geval van tekst voorlezen zonder zelf na te denken... Dank voor de mooie beelden weer!

That was a nice piece of free-wheeling (or coasting) between Liss and Heemstede-A. I imagine that the view is even better just before harvesting the tulips. This probably not your purview, but I wonder if the tulip growers always plant their fields in the same direction or if they go crosswise on alternate years. Just a stray thought looking at the fields as you passed by.

Hm, good question. I believe it is always the same direction. Maybe always in the direction of the length of the field, saves making turns with machinery?

Lovely. I am coming with my family from the UK to visit the Netherlands in July! Hopefully you'll be our driver :). 2 questions: 1. What is the construction happening outside Den Haag station right now? 2. Do you have in-cab ETCS for speed limits? I didn't notice any speed limit signs next to the track.

1. The entrance to the station and the square in front of it will be redesigned. How exactly I don't know, but more info here: indebuurt.nl/denhaag/nieuws/den-haag-centraal-wordt-heel-gaaf~14821/ 2. No ETCS. Speed signs are the white square and yellow triangluar signs with a number, showing max speed x10. You could try to mail me when travelling by train, you never know :-)

In the past, those canals were used for the transportation of goods and people (canals with a side track for horses to tow a ship). Boat-canal Leiden-Haarlem and boat-canal Haarlem-Amsterdam.

😅ik heb in de winter 1963 van Amsterdam naar Haarlem geschaatst en terug,het ijs was tot aan de bodem bevroren,ik was toen 12 jaar. wat vliegt die tijd toch om.🤣

Mooie rit! Maar... Bij De Vink staat als stations afkorting "Vk". Dat klopt niet. Vk is Valkenburg en De Vink is "Dvnk"

13:00 Vreemd dat het wissel hier rechtuit ligt. Nu zul je in Leiden C niet zo snel doorglijden, maar uiteindelijk moet het toch naar rechts.
