check those food bots bases for bot numbers, makers marks, and the potential embossing of Heinz with their bot number (w, w/o markers marks). Same for checking those slick pharma bots - as maker's marks give the date range of those bots - that can be as few as 2-3 years !!

Be sure to check dates, mint marks, and errors on those pennies. There have been plenty of pennies that have gone at auction for tens of thousands of dollars. Can you imagine if there was a copper 1945 in them? Some dates of the steel pennies are worth money too. Beautiful bottles and boy you two worked hard to get them. This comment may get me in trouble, but I have been digging for 50 years, and a rule of ours is never to have all of the diggers in a hole like this deep one and not have anyone up top. You did that a couple of times and if the walls collapsed on you, there would be no one to call for help and dig you out. When I was younger I would be the monkey and climb into the 12 ft deep privie. I witnessed a good friend get buried by a collapse. There were 6 of us that day and got him out quickly, but that did it for me. You young fellas have your whole lives ahead of you, so try not to end it to early by not thinking of your surroundings. That goes for the solo diggers too. Great job on this dig!
@shdwhealer

Just FYI -- all 1945 pennies are copper. The steel pennies are 1943. So a copper 43, or a steel 44, are the rare finds.

I enjoyed the video fellas, cool finds. I gotta say though, you are asking for some serious injury or death digging like that. I know OSHA doesn't really apply to you as a hobbyist digger and all but you should really thing about reading some excavation guidelines. when you get much deeper than 4 or 5 feet you are putting yourself at serious risk of collapse. I work construction and see properly excavated holes collapse on people and get them hurt. Many die. You are using a rope ladder which is a joke, at a minimum a proper extension ladder. You are digging voids under weight that are going to collapse at some point. You have to slope your excavations in some way to reduce this risk. Really at those depths you need some kind of shoring or real structural support to prevent collapse. I really like this hobby and am a metal detectorist and am delving into bottles and privy searching but I gotta say the way this is done is really REALLY dangerous. Please think of your safety going forward.

What an exciting dig. I am a metal detectorist and hunt for coins. I sure would love to see the coins cleaned up. Were they all Indian Head Cents or was there silver or gold in there too? I dug a bunch (maybe 100) of pennies once, but they were mostly zinc pennies and a few copper memorials, nothing old. Yes, the coins were my favorite part. I use to operate heavy equipment and have dug up old bottles with a tractor a few times and would stop and investigate and come up with old bottles, but I was not into bottle hunting or collecting and I have no idea what ever happened to them. I know some were old, where the seam stopped near the top and the top was put on separately. I only wonder how many old coins I loaded into a dirt truck and hauled away while grading and demolishing many old home sites?

Ball Mason/Ball Improved Mason .. (1900-1910) made at Ball Bros Muncie Indiana on their own Ball Bros (patent design) fruit jar machine. Ball Bros moved 1890 from Buffalo NY (coal-fired glass plants) to Muncie IN (natural gas-fired glass plants) - with other glass companies moving to Midwest for cheaper glass bottle and jar making as well. Only later with the Greenfield IN glass plant that made Boyd's Perfect Masons, and they have rights to the first-gen of Owens jar making machines - that Ball was able to gain some rights to Owens machines. Eventually, they would convert to all Owens machines, and drop their machines. These jars and those of the Perfect Masons and (staggered) Perfect Masons were made after Ball took over Greenfield, pinged out Boyd's and put in Ball in that 1915-1920s period with staggered, then corrected Perfect Masons. The tapered-shoulder seals vs the stocky Perfect Masons were those of the 1890s-1910 period.

GD YT !!!! F POS !! Research done - glitched and erased everything. - Otis Seth Beach (1860-1915) - conflicts with Era Druggists' Directory (1915-1921+) statements - Aldura W Parmalee, b Oct 1859, other census says 1858, listed in 1870 census as Albion, age 12, living with father A.S. Parmaller (sic) in Owego, marriage in 1880, conflicts as Parmalee not listed as a druggist in the 1905-1910 period "in Owego." - correct name Alburn Worthington Parmalee (1857-1910) - both Beach and Parmalee born same time, yet Parmalee dies 5 years earlier than Beach, both would be druggists from ~1882 - 1910 ... 1915 - Parmalee & Lyon must then be ~1882-18xx (Lyon dying ?), then Beach & Parmalee (18xx-1905ish ?), wherein (sickness, ill health) Parmalee retires before 1905 directory, and dying in 1910. Beach follows, dying in 1915 So Parmalee & Lyon would be the oldest pharma bot, followed by Beach & Parmalee, moving into Beach only None of this can be validated by other findagrave, census, druggists directory etc.

Please -- do not use coin cleaner chemicals on them. That will make them next to worthless! No coin dealer or collector will touch a coin which has been "cleaned" or "restored" with chemicals. Soft soap and water. That's it.

We know. Still, soap and water isn't going to do anything to these at all. Some have suggested tumbling them and some have suggested just leaving them in clumps. The issue is that certain dates can be valuable (1877) and without getting them clean enough to read the date, they have limited value or appeal

The camera manipulation is terrible!! The way y'all handle the coins appalling! That's the best way to authenticate your coins.. Your lucky strike!!! It's hard to come up with a plan when the "water breaks"...

That hole looks too deep to be safe! A cave in would kill anybody stuck down there. 3 minutes.

It was safer than it looks. These pits have the walls lined with stacked stone, wood, and sometimes brick
